Longest relationship

Contributor: CPTInsanity CPTInsanity
I think one of the reasons that my wife and I have been together almost ten years is that I learned from my mistakes with past girlfriends. I learned from my first girlfriend to not be jealous and to not hold onto something that just isn't there. From another girlfriend I learned that if you don't trust somebody, then get rid of them the second the trust is broke. From another girl I learned that just because they are on there period, doesn't mean they can't use there mouth(I will never forget that first date). And from one of the others I learned don't give up your dreams because of a relationship. Between all the girls I dated(good or bad), I learned a lot of lessoned that have served me well in my marriage.

I have been with my husband for 11 1/2 years and married for just over 9. We keep things interesting, learn when to stop an argument and work together to solve problems and get through hard times. We're happy, more in love than ever, and the sparks just keep flying. Keeping your partner happy in all aspects of life, including in the bedroom, is key. Compromise, communication and dedication help get through the struggles. We try new things, go to new places, and just keep things fresh, that's what keeps us going!

I have been with my man for 5 1/2 years and I love it. We have a great relationship and I plan on it lasting a lot longer! It is the longest relationship I have ever had though.

6 with my husband. We started dating when I was 17, got married at 18 and now I'm 23, he's 28.
How to do it? Patience, communication, patience, communication. We're constantly working on both.
And love. If you don't truly love that person it won't work, you're lying to yourself and that person.

I've been dating my boyfriend for almost 2 and a half years.

When we first met, we instantly felt like we'd known each other our whole lives... It was amazing. We're able to sit in complete silence and enjoy it. We never argue or fight. The sex is AMAZING! We have so many inside jokes and laugh all the time. We accept both the good and the bad about each other. We have so many things in common it's a little bit crazy, but we also contradict each other enough to make things interesting. <3 I don't know what I would do without him!

Over a dozen years. It works because we like each other. Everybody says communication, but it's the WAY you communicate that makes all the difference. Listening is twice as important as talking--that's why you have two ears and only one mouth!

I'm only 18, and I've been with my current for just over a year. I consider it long-term because it is much longer than the 3 mo curse I affectionately called my inability to hold a relationship down before. It would always be him leaving me, saying that he "just doesn't love me anymore." No animosity, just no more love.

But with my current, it is much different. We're looking at marriage. We had our rocky parts (some big family problems with him when we began dating mixed in with depression), but we love each other and are committed to making it work and to helping each other out in life. That is the big thing with us. Even when we have problems, we make the effort to fix it. I'm hoping for 50+ years with him!
