Yes, Some colors look dingy after a while even though they've been properly cleaned.

Darker colors are better, since any, uh, potential accidental nastiness won't show up as much on a black toy as much as it will on a white toy...

wouldn't use anything that was black/grey/brown/ or any other really dull ugly color. Bright primary colors are awesome.

I honestly think its a physiological thing. Warm bright colors are warm and inviting thus making you more open to using them. While colors like black are more intimidating, thus turning you off.
