Silicone doesn't inflate very well at all. Ever seen one of those silicone ice trays? Those would be a great example of how thin and flexible silicone can become. If you tried to blow a balloon with one of those, however, you would get nowhere. They stay in shape very well. On the other hand, they would not make an ice tray out of rubber or latex because it does not keep its shape well.
