We just cover it with a condom when we use it, and use scented, or flavored lube with it. You can try liquid dish soap and airing it out to see if it helps that was suggested by another reviewer but didn't help in our case.The condom was also suggested by another reviewer and works very well, the flavored lube works good for oral. I avoid rubber and jelly toys because they smell so bad and they also cause burning for me. If my toys smell or hurt, I can't enjoy them. If you look for toys that are phthalate free, the smell is usually quite a bit lessened.
