I don't eat a huge amount of meat. Certainly not every day. I could be a vegetarian pretty easily, I think, but I don't think I could ever be a vegan. I love dairy products too much. Especially a good cheese...
I like meat too much to be a vegetarian. I have tried it for a few days just to see if I could do it and to try new things, but the meat cravings come back strong lol
I tried being a vegan for 2 weeks. I can't do it, I love cheese too much. However, I was a veggie for almost 4 years. But never again. Food is too delicious.
I did try being a vegetarian when I was a teenager and it lasted maybe a week. I couldn't stand watching my family it such delicious meat while I went without! lol
I really want to go veg at least, but right now cost-wise it's fairly prohibitive for me. I love the soy versions of chicken I've tried in the past, but it's so darned pricey. Bah. I really want to for moral reasons, but animals are tasty
A friend of mine is trying the vegan diet. I can't say he's handling the transition very well especially when the rest of his family isn't doing it with him. I think if you're going to do that it's very important to have your family's support or respect. If your significant other wanted to go veg or vegan, would you do it too? I honestly don't know if I could do it for more than a couple of weeks, though I would definitely not eat meat in the house. Chains and whips are one thing, but eating a cheeseburger in front of a struggling vegan would just be too torturous.

Ha, there might be some truth to the idea that you need respect when going vegan/veggie. When I first went vegan [maybe a month into it, but I had been veggie for years before that], a few of my friends surprised me by deciding to take me out to eat for my birthday.
They took me to this HORRIBLE Chinese restaurant. Every single thing had meat in it or eggs. I asked them why they chose this place. The response? "Well, we figured you wouldn't have a problem taking a break from your diet."

Being/eating vegan can be really cheap if you don't buy too much processed foods and buy in bulk. Some cheap foods: rice, beans, nuts, couscous, oatmeal, plant milk, gits, polenta, fruits, vegetables, barley, lentils, potatoes, quinoa, flaxseed, nut butters, seaweed, nutritional yeast, oat bran, mushrooms, chickpea, miso, pasta, breads, falafel, tofu, tempeh, seitan, TVP.
Fairly cheap brands: Dr. McDougall's, Health Valley, Fantastic Foods, Gardenburger, Lightlife, Morningstar Farms, Boca, Amy's, Earth Balance, Tofutti, & Tofurky.
And quick healthful meals/dishes can be made with the above foods. With Tofu, tempeh, seitan, TVP, vegetables, and beans you can make vegan chicken, burgers, meatballs, etc. Some good links:
I'm semi-vegetarien. I eat no red meat or poultry but I eat sea food.
It's been hard to stick with my vegetarien ways sicen I started school. I have been eating more meat bcs its just easier, bcs I have no time to cook and I'll eat what ever my boyfriend is making.
I feel super guilty about it but once I'm done school I will be making lots of veggie meals. I eat meat once or twice a week. So I guess its not too bad.
