An Almost Enchanting Journey

In spite of the minor things that bugged me, Satyr did meet my expectations as a Wicked movie. A good quality production, original story (not very complex or logical, but original), and Jenna Jameson - I can't complain too much. It may not be my favorite movie, but it's a keeper.

PLOT SUMMARY:
Fawn Deering (Jenna Jameson) is a college student writing a paper on animal mythology and human sexuality who is meeting with Dr. Jade (Asia Carrera) for an interview. Fawn's car breaks down on the way so she spends the night at Dr. Jade's where she participates in the Bacchanal celebration and undergoes a life-changing transformation.

PRODUCTION QUALITY:
The quality of this production was definitely above my standards for porn, but of course there's room for improvement. The lighting is nice, and the video quality was pretty good for the 90s (not exactly comparable to HD, but it's more than okay). The sound is great during the sex scenes, but leaves a lot to be desired during most of the dialogue, which could be hard to understand at times. The acting is also pretty average, but Satyr does get major bonus points for an original storyline, elaborate sets, beautiful makeup and nice costumes. (And minus one because the music is really irritating.)

SEX:
One of my recurring thoughts while watching Satyr was that I wouldn't lend it to my boyfriend because I would be afraid of him taking sex tips from this movie. Although mostly it's pretty good, there were a quite few "Wow, that doesn't look fun" and "That can't be comfortable" moments throughout. Also, a major turn off for me was that there's way too much grunting (mostly the men, but occasionally the women too). I mean, it's out of control. I understand that they were aiming for a more 'animalistic' performance, but this is a bit much and all I wanted to do was hit 'mute'.

My biggest complaint, however, is that all the scenes are so short. I would have preferred to have less sex scenes and extend them instead of trying to cram so many different ones into such a short film (I believe it was at least 8 or 9 different sex scenes in an 85 minute movie with a plot). They're all very nicely done, but I would have liked to have a little more time with each scene.

The movie features Boy/Girl and Girl/Girl scenes along with some threesomes (both B/B/G and B/G/G).

SPECIAL FEATURES:
These are virtually non-existent. There's star stats (with a pretty awful biography narration), trailers and a photo gallery, but nothing worth checking out.

I have found it so hard to write reviews on the DVD's, good job on it.

I have this movie, and I totally agree about the excessive growling and grunting. I found it very distracting. I don't mind shorter scenes though. A couple of newer movies I have watched seemed to have scenes that just drag on and on even though nothing new is happening. It's like watching the same thing in a long, long loop.

Thanks for the review. How short would you say the sex scenes are?
