Booby pasta - gags discontinued by Pipedream - review by ~LaUr3n~

My boyfriend is a huge pasta fan and so I thought it would be hilarious to prepare this funny pasta without his knowledge. Unfortunately, I ran into a few snags. In the end it ended up being edible and working for a pasta and sauce simple dish, but there was not much laughing involved. It looks a lot better in the box. Once cooked, it loses its gag appeal.

The pasta comes in a red, sturdy, cardboard box that is sturdier than a regular pasta package. The box contains 10 ounces of pasta ( 283 grams). According to the box, this is enough for 5 servings of 2 ounces each. We personally got two meals out of this (two serrings for each of us). The box is not discreet. TITARONI is larger written across the top and Booby Shaped Pasta is written below it. In addition, there is an animated image of a women holding a pot in front of her breasts. There is a hole there that shows the pasta shapes inside. The pasta shape was strange. I'm not sure if it is because pasta has bounds and you cannot just make any shape easily. This shape looked like a set of boobs with nipples but then there was like a second set on top of that.

The Titaroni Booby Pasta from Pipedream, is completely edible and mostly functional. I say mostly because it seemed to fall apart when cooked. I cooked it like a normal batch of pasta-to a boil. It wasn't an issue with being cooked to long because the pasta was the correct firmness. The shape just seemed to fall apart anyways. When cooked, the shape was indistinguishable. It did taste like any of the other regular box of pasta we buy to make pasta with (this is ironic considering the note at the end of this review).

I thought that the rest of the packaging was pretty funny. On one side it tells the story of Titaroni from the Areola region of Italy. The back has two funny recipes as well. The other side has the nutritional facts. There are no ingredients though. I found this odd and it is a concern for those with diseases or allergies that prevent the consumption of gluten.

After everything was said and done, I would say that this is good for a funny gag for maybe a bachelor moving into a new pad or a gift at a bachelorette party, but it's not that great for making and then having people over. The shape doesn't hold up and people will likely not notice. They will just think you have weird broken noodles!

NOTE: The package we received was grossly expired (almost two years). Check yours BEFORE cooking. We made the mistake of not noticing til after. Almost two years expired and it still tasted good! I can only imagine that it tastes even better when you have a fresh box. I contacted customer service and I'm sure they will take care of my problem!

While we did have fun with this the first time (despite it being expired), I don't think we will purchase this again for ourselves. I might get it as a gag for someone else. At this price, it is not entertaining enough to do more than once. It still was delicious though!
