Alumina Pace - sex toy by Tantus - review by Jimbo Jones

I have had the glorious opportunity to test many toys by the great sex toy manufacturer Tantus. One thing I have always been able to count on is that their toys have been made out of hypo-allergenic, non-porous, phthalate-free 100% silicone. That is until I got the Alumina Pace from Tantus. The Alumina Pace is not made out of silicone, in fact, with the exception of a small o-ring on the toy, the whole thing is made out of aluminum (hence the name). This is part of a new line of sex toys by Tantus that are made of this material. Like silicone, aluminum is hypo-allergenic, non-porous, and phthalate-free and can be sterilized using the same methods as silicone. These methods are boiling for 5 minutes, washing in the top rack of the dishwasher without soap, or wiping with a 10% bleach solution. The biggest difference between silicone and aluminum is that aluminum is much stiffer

I think the Alumina Pace looks kind of like a 5” long brushed aluminum babell with a point at one end. It is designed to be an anal toy and with a diameter of 1 ¼“ it is sized appropriately for these kinds of activities. For some reason, the pointed end can be unscrewed and there is a silicone o-ring where the two pieces come together. The o-ring is hardly noticeable during insertion as it does not measurably protrude from the exterior of the pace. Another attribute of aluminum is that it is excellent for temperature play. Metals usually feel cold to the touch at room temperature, but will quickly warm to body temperature once they are inserted. Also, if the Pace is put into water prior to insertion, it will quickly adjust to the water temperature which makes for a unique sensation whether the water is warm or cold.

Even though it is not intended to be used this way, we tried the Pace out vaginally on my partner. She was not all that impressed with it. The main problem to her was that it was not long enough to provide enough penetration while still providing me with the control necessary to give good g-spot stimulation. After cleaning it up, she unleashed the Pace on my ass. The pointed tip made insertion very easy and the size was great to slide right in and rest on the narrow neck. She held the ball end and rocked the Pace to provide some decent stimulation to my prostate. The ball end is a little more difficult to put in, and doesn’t provide the prostate stimulation, but it is great for temperature play if it is rubbed along the perineum and the anal opening. The only problem I have with the Pace is that it really isn’t as safe for solo anal play as I would like since it doesn’t have a well-defined base to keep it from disappearing into my ass.
