The Riding Crop by Sex and Mischief (a subset of Sportsheets) is a small riding crop designed for spanking another person. It is much smaller than other crops on the market, or crops that are not used in BDSM play, such as for horseback riding. This toy has a small handle and a short crop that can provide some sting. I think this is best for those who prefer lighter play or are just beginning to experiment with spanking/paddling, etc.

The "leather" loop that makes up the crop is actually not made of any animal materials at all, but still feels like leather.

The handle is made out of ABS plastic which rates an 8 out of 10 on the EdenFantasys Safety Material Scale. As I said previously this is a good item to have for those who are looking to begin experimenting with BDSM, or for those who prefer lighter play. For our purposes it has worked well so far. My wife is only beginning to express interest in being spanked and this was a non-threatening piece that excited her more than scared her. The handle and the "leather" loop worked well and have held up well through several sessions. If you were a more experience user this probably would not be sufficient.

The "leather" loop is made out of poly vinyl chloride and polyester in lieu of actual leather. The loop feels like leather, albeit cheaper leather. It is very flexible and the entire crop is 12 1/2" long. The crop end itself is 2 1/2" long, with the rest being the plastic handle. The flogger end is 2" wide as well, so it has a decent surface area for spanking.

One of the best things about this crop is also one of its drawbacks. You cannot put a lot of force behind this crop because of its length, but also it is very easy to travel with this crop. You can throw this in a briefcase (I have) and no one will be the wiser. It is very small and easy to use for play on the road.

This item is very affordable, at less than $10, and is very well made for the price. I found no loose threads or problems with the crop at all. It is very well made, especially for the price.

Anyone who prefers more intense BDSM play will not be happy with this crop at all. You cannot use a lot of force with this crop, though you can have a minimal amount of force with the crop. As mentioned several times before, beginners and those who are into lighter BDSM play will find this to their liking.

This is not something that is going to sting for a long time or leave long-lasting marks. If you are looking for a crop that will leave those marks move on to the next item. This has a really nice sound of a crop when it connects with flesh and will leave red marks, especially on the buttocks, but the marks don't last very long at all. Withing 10-15 minutes all of the red marks on my wife had faded away. There can't be a ton of force applied with the crop, but it can have some sting. My wife was happy with the sting at first, but is already thinking of an upgrade on the flogger, and she is a beginner with spanking. Only the flogging end is good for use on the person, you could try to spank with the handle end, but we weren't successful with that at all.

You can wipe the plastic handle with any almost anything to clean the crop, including soap and water or an anti-bacterial wipe. Even though the flogger end is not made from leather, I would't want to get this wet. We have cleaned it twice with an anti-bacterial wipe and then dried it quickly and have had no problems with the cop at all.

We store this in a large Ziploc-style bag in our toy drawer with some of our other BDSM toys. It is short enough to store very easily and you shouldn't have any problems with finding where to stash this.

There isn't much to the packaging with this, and it is not very discreet. The crop arrives attached to a large piece of cardboard, which has the Sex and Mischief name and product name on it. The coloring scheme is black and white, like all Sex and Mischief products.

On the back of the packaging there is a short product description, as well as several ways or scenes in which one might use the crop. Once you remove the fasteners from the crop the packaging becomes useless because there is no real way to reattach the crop. The packaging is also very bulky and not conducive for storage. The good news is that it is recyclable.

This was good for us, mainly because it was a non-threatening introduction to riding crops for my wife. She enjoyed the slight sting without having to worry about being hurt. The handle is pretty short and won't allow you to put a lot of force behind your play, and people with more experience would not enjoy this toy. We like it, although my wife is already beginning to eye other floggers that might be a little more intense.

All in all a good introductory piece, but not one that you're going to use for years and year more than likely.
