BamBOO? How about BamYAY?

I really do adore this cane. It is my first cane and has delivered everything I expected and more. I do not think it is for beginners at all, but advanced users are going to just love this!

Use

My husband and me are heavy BDSM players and have been looking at getting a cane for a while. We were unsure about trying a bamboo cane, (since we heard they have a tendency to splinter) but wanted to try a less expensive cane first before spending a lot of money on a more expensive one.

After trying this cane only a few times, we are in love and will definitely be adding a few more canes to our arsenal. This toy is not really recommended for beginners, as it can leave very deep welts and bruises with very little effort or use. If you're unsure if that will be OK for you, I'd stick with a lighter toy.

One downside to the toy is that it is so long (at 40") that it doesn't really fit in our toy bag for travel purposes. The other features of this cane more than make up for that to us though.

Design / Craftsmanship / Size / Material / Features

This cane is very long at 40" and has a 1.5" rubber cap on the very end. The rubber cap is NOT removable. The handle itself looks a bit cheap, but works well. The handle is 6 inches long, with 6 heavy grommets keeping the leather in place. There is a D ring on the very end of the handle, so that you can hang the cane up if desired.

The cane is very light! The handle does give it a nice bit of weight, but the entire cane is lighter than any riding crop we have. The bamboo is very smooth and nice, and slightly bent at its joints.

My husband is the one who weilds this cane, and he says that the handle is very comfortable in his large hands. I have small hands, and the cane feels pretty comfortable to me as well, because of this I think a wide variety of hands will feel comfortable holding this cane.

Performance

As someone who adores marks and wearing them, I am in love with this cane. We used it for the first time several days ago, and I still have the same deep blue bruises from that initial session. This was our first time using a cane, and I definitely noticed that I had two sensations from each smack. The first sensation was a very "sharp" and "stingy" one. A few moments later, I noticed a very deep dull ache. I really enjoyed this, but I do not really recommend this toy for beginners. Intermediate and advanced users will be much happier with this toy.

A warning to anyone who might be thinking of using this cane as a lighter toy. It can be done, yes. You can use this toy and leave little if any marks if you do desire. However, you will have to barely use this cane at all. We noticed that even small swats left a line across my skin. This may be because I am so pale, but it was all too easy to mark me. I really think that those who are not into marks should stay away.

Aside from the fact that this toy makes leaving marks easy as 1, 2, 3, the lightness of the cane makes for a very springy hit. As the cane comes in contact with the skin, it rebounds off quite easily. It is almost a "bouncy" sensation, and we enjoyed it immensely.

Packaging

The cane comes with no packaging, just a tag hanging from the D Ring. The tag has no instructions or anything other than the company name on it.

Personal comments

As much as I love this cane, I am disappointed in the handle just a little bit. The leather is already peeling up in a corner of the cane even after only 6-7 uses, while the rest of the cane is in great condition. I have a feeling the handle is going to go long before the cane itself. I'll update that in my follow-up review though.
Follow-up commentary
I'm pleased to let you all know that after two months of semi-constant and fairly heavy use this cane is still in great shape. Not only that, but the leather on the handle has not unravelled any further than it did when I originally wrote this review. We both still love this cane and will continue to use it with glee.

Thanks for reviewing. I am glad to hear it hasn't splintered on you. That was our concern.

@Mirachaya Nope, I didn't have problems with it splintering, but I'd imagine with time it definitely would once it dried out.
