Paddle fleece by Spartacus - review by Sir

Unlike most paddles, this paddle is a double-sided paddle that bears two different sensations in one large paddle—a fluffy, fleece side and a hard leather side. The side with the fleece has more thud to it in use, and the leather side gives more of a sting. Both hurt—a lot. But they can each be used lightly for those who prefer less pain. In addition to giving a nice spank with each side, you can also give a hard slap with the leather side and then rub the receiver's bottom with the fleece. It's a very soothing feeling, and it's also good for aftercare for those really bad punishments.

Since the paddle is more floppy, and the floppiness makes it a little hard to control, I do not recommend this as a newer players' paddle. It might give an unintended effect if used in an inexperienced hand.

There are two sides to this paddle: a smooth leather side, and a soft fuzzy side. The leather is very high quality and firm, and the fleece is more of a nappy fur. I was surprised at this, as I had expected the fleece to be smooth and nice to stroke—this paddle's fleece is more kinked and curly as opposed to smooth and straight. It is, however, very fuzzy and soft, so it works for its intended effect.

Spartacus sewed the paddle all around the handle and impact portion. This means that it has a low chance of coming apart or loosening up over time. The leather is extremely thick, making the impact area very firm. Sadly, even though the leather is so thick, the handle cannot stand up to the weight of the fleece and leather mix, which causes it to flop.

In the end of the handle is a little metal hole, with a leather strap looped through it. You can wear this around your wrist during use, or use it to hang the paddle up after you're done with it.

The paddle was larger than I had expected—a lot larger than a regularly-sized ping pong paddle. It's about 15 1/2" in total length, and the usable, spankable length is 9", leaving 6 1/2" for the length of the handle. Its width at the impact portion is 5 1/2", which is fairly wide for this sort of paddle. This is good, though, because it allows you to hit a larger area.

I enjoyed this paddle, as it was my first multiuse paddle with a fuzzy/fluffy side. I was a bit disappointed, however, to find that the fluffy side was not fur as I had expected it to be, but a more nappy fleece. The other fleece paddles had appeared to be reminiscent of fur, as did this one in its image, but in person, it looks more...odd. I do not know how to describe it really.

But, after all of that, it does work to soothe a person after a hard spanking. I'm just not particularly fond of it.

Both sides work very well for spanking, regarldess of the fact that the handle flops around. It's a very hefty paddle that gives a hard thud. It can certainly give some bruising and lots of red marks, but if you prefer it to be used more lightly, it works well for that too. Lighter slaps with it are very nice and are fairly easy to accomplish. When the paddle makes contact with flesh, it makes a loud "smack" from the leather side, and a "thump" with the fleece side.

I've noticed that some little fleece particles get on the skin if spanked with the fleece side. This does not happen when rubbed with it, however.

If anything gets on the leather side of the paddle, you can wipe it down with a damp cloth and dry it thoroughly. You may also use a leather cleaner. The fleece side is a bit more difficult to clean, as sometimes things may get clumped inside of it and then it's a hassle to get it out. Some water on a damp cloth will clean this, and a thorough dry will make it safe for storage. For the fleece, you may also want to get a hair dryer out and put it on low speed and cold temperature to dry the fleece completely.

Since it has a leather strap, you can either use that to hang it up for storage, or you can put it away in a drawer with other leather things or clothing. It's better to keep it out of direct sunlight and to keep it in a well-ventilated area, just so that it does not become damp and degrade. I personally keep it hung up with my other spanking or punishment implements.

The paddle came in a plastic bag that's not resealable. Nothing special, nothing too bad either. I threw it away.

I was a bit turned off at the fleece. It does perform well, however, but I'm not sure that its performance can justify the price. That is why I am rating it what I'm rating it—I just cannot say that this is worth more than seventy dollars. It should be priced at the same range as the other fleece paddles.
