The 4 Cuff U restraints work wonderfully for practical bondage use. They’re relatively sturdy; I haven’t had them slip or come off during use. These would probably be best for people new to bondage. I’m not sure that they would stand up to a lot of tugging and abuse. However, if you know that you don’t destroy cuffs, these would probably work quite well for more experienced users.

They work nicely for a variety of interesting positions, mainly because of the very versatile design. If you can think up a position to tie your subbie up in, I’m pretty sure these could accommodate it without any problems. They can be attached to each other or to an array of objects and bedposts. You could tie a knot in the straps and close them in the door or possibly even tie the cuffs to a spreader bar or collar. There are so many possibilities with these cuffs! They require no special fastening, just a sturdy knot.

These cuffs are not for suspension; putting too much body weight on these would be a very bad idea indeed. The weight of a leg or arm would pose no problem, but not a whole body. Traveling with the cuffs is simple. They fold up very small and would easily fit in a purse or other bag.

This set comes with four separate restraints: two for the wrists and two for the ankles. Each is made of a 44” strap of black nylon and they’re surprisingly sturdy. They fasten using Velcro. I have to admit, I did not have high hopes for these restraints because of the materials they were made of, but I was pleasantly surprised. I was convinced that with the amount of yanking on restraints that I do, the Velcro would release and my wrists would be involuntarily freed. The design of these cuffs were created with that in mind though. Upon a first inspection, I found that the Velcro on each restraint had a ½ inch tag of Velcro at the end that was not sewn to the cuff.

At first I was appalled. What kind of design flaw was this!? What else would I find that was wrong? Little did I know that those little tags were part of what makes these cuffs so sturdy. The tags are impervious to the struggling happening in the bindings because they aren’t attached to the nylon. Pulling on the straps results in force being applied in the wrong direction for removal, making a loud noise and actually tightening the Velcro’s hold. These tags also serve a dual purpose; they make it difficult to remove the cuffs if you’re in them. You can’t just yank on the strap, you have to fiddle around with the Velcro to make it release. Yet this does not apply to the person outside of the cuffs; releasing the cuffs from the outside is a snap.

These cuffs fit well on a large variety of wrist and ankle sizes. This is great news for those of us who have trouble finding cuffs because of our tiny wrists! My wrists are very small and they fit snugly and securely with no problems and little to no wiggle room. They aren’t exactly the most beautiful cuffs; they look like some sort of sports gear, but they work well. If you want aesthetic appeal, these probably aren’t what you’re looking for. There’s no fancy leather or metal adornments, but these cuffs don’t need them to be a good quality set of restraints.

One thing to note before buying these is that there are no fastenings on the strap opposite the cuff. The only way to attach them to anything is with a knot. Luckily, the nylon that they’re made of does not slip in a knot.

The material is a little rough during wear. It’s abrasive, but so far not to the point of being really uncomfortable or painful, just enough to serve as a reminder that they’re there. You can smell the nylon faintly, but you have to get right up close to the cuffs to smell it; and even then it’s not an offensive smell.

I love these cuffs. They are versatile and sturdy, which is all I ask out of a restraint set. They’re fairly simple to rig up any way you want. Just put the cuffs on and tie them together or to other things. The knots can be a little difficult to untangle after use, but it’s nothing incredibly challenging. I haven’t yet had these leave lasting marks on my wrists or ankles; any redness, imprinting, or raw skin is gone by the next morning. Since my wrists are a little delicate, I can usually still feel the effects the day after, but it’s very light and barely noticeable: just a slightly bruised feeling and sensitive skin, neither of which I object to.

As previously mentioned, the Velcro worked wonderfully; it far exceeded my expectations. All in all, this is a very functional bondage set. They work exactly as they should. The one problem we had (and a piddly one at that) was finding something to tie them to. At one end of my bed there are posts, at the other end, nothing. After a moment of deliberating, we came up with two solutions: either change the position or tie the cuffs together. Easy enough. This actually forced us into using kinkier positions that we hadn’t tried before. It posed no problem for us and actually enhanced what we were doing; but if your play is heavily dependent on the mood, you may want to check beforehand and find areas that would work well for tying so that you don’t have to pause your play to work on the straps too much.

The nylon is pretty easy to take care of. For the most part, you shouldn’t have to worry about cleaning but after multiple uses (10-20) it would be a good idea to clean them to make sure residual bacteria doesn’t get transferred to raw skin. In the case of dirt, bacteria, and skin oils, a quick hand washing in sudsy water will do the trick. I would suggest using dish soap, hand soap, or laundry detergent, and never scouring powder.

If bodily fluids (blood, vaginal fluid, semen, etc.) get on your restraints, they should be washed and then hung to dry for at least two weeks before being used with another person. This eliminates the chances of transmitting AIDS and hepatitis. If they are not being used with multiple partners, then washing and hanging overnight would suffice.
