Diamond whip - whip discontinued by Cal Exotics - review by Breas

The Diamond Whip by Cal Exotics arrived in a clear plastic packaging. There were no text or photos on the plastic bag that surrounded the whip. There was a cardboard tag attached to the whip. The tag states the company name, product name, a few product features, material composition, and has a photo of the toy. The packaging is not ideal for storage. I keep mine at my nightstand but the wrist strap can also hang it up.



The whip is black in colour and made primarily of PVC. The PVC has a shiny wet look to it. The lighter coloured backings to the tails and wrist strap are polyester. The contrast with the black PVC and white polyester is, in my opinion, ugly. It gives the whip a rather cheap look. The stock photo doesn’t really give you an idea of the contrasting colours. The stock photo makes the tails look all black.



There is a metal D-ring to hold the wrist strap to the handle and there are rhinestone accents on the handle. There are 2 rows of rhinestones around the top of the handle as well as at the base. There are another 2 rows of rhinestones that run up the length of the handle. All of the rhinestones that are attached to the handle sit on a cloth track. They’re very sparkly and pretty!

Total length of whip (bottom of handle to end of tails): 17 inches
Length of tails: 12 ¼ inches
Width of tails: ¼ of an inch each
Handle circumference: a smidge over 3 ½ inches
Wrist strap width: 5/8 of an inch
Wrist strap length: 7 ½ inches

The whip has 18 tails in total. I’m not sure if it’s different for each whip but mine has 18. The whip is quite light. It’s very easy to handle and use, which makes it great for beginners. The tails aren’t too long so they’re manageable, and the tails are not heavier than the handle. The more advanced whip user may not appreciate these qualities but they’re good for a beginner or a person who prefers the light BDSM toys like myself.

When using the whip, the tails can provide a tickling sensation when ran across the skin all the way up to a very powerful sting. I’m not really into the harder stings so when my partner used it on me and put force into the swing, I said “ouch- okay never again!” I actually didn't expect such a powerful sting. The PVC material really adds to the "ouch". My partner likes the harder whips though so when I put all my force into it, he said “ouch” and then “very nice!” When you put force into the swing, this whip will leave the area with red marks.

The wrist strap has a 13 ¼ inch circumference so almost anybody can put their wrist through it. The strap is not adjustable though. The D-ring that the strap is attached to is well secured to the handle of the whip. The PVC material can be cleaned with a bit of water and antibacterial soap. The polyester backings to the tail and wrist strap should be cleaned by hand as well with a gentle detergent.

I have a few different items from the Bound By Diamonds collection by Cal Exotics and all of the items have the same rhinestones on the cloth track. None of the rhinestones have fallen out on my other items so I’m hoping that the whip will be the same. I actually had my Bound By Diamonds Eye Mask but into the washer and dryer and the rhinestones held up through that abuse. If the whip is anything like the other pieces, they won’t fall out.

A few of the Bound By Diamonds items that match the whip are: Diamond Lover (which is a bullet), Teddy (which is lingerie), and Ribbon Eye Mask (which is a blindfold).

Overall, it’s a cute whip and great for beginners. The whip does have a bit of a cheap look to it but for $15.99, I wasn’t expecting designer appearance. It would have been nice if the stock photo were a bit more accurate with the colours of the whip because the white backing to the black tails is just so terribly ugly. I’ve deducted only one star for this difference. I love the rhinestones on the whip and it works well on my partner who enjoys those stronger stings.
