Metal wrist and ankle cuffs by Cal Exotics - review by Spoken Pandora

These metal wrist and ankle cuffs are perfect for any bondage and discipline session. They are easy to use for a beginner and made well enough for a connoisseur of restraint. I personally think that this combo would make a great starter kit for a newbie and will gain the respect of a true Dom/Domme.

The purpose of these cuffs is to restrain and they do that hands down. I used them in the front of my body. But as I'm sitting here writing, I'm thinking about how they will work from behind or in a hog tied position. The length is great for both and I have no worries that they will work just as well in these positions. (Definite reason for a follow-up)

These aren't your toy store brand type of cuffs. This is some serious metal with weight on it to boot.

I was honestly amazed at how comfortable these restraints are. It doesn't matter if you close them to fit snug or loose, they feel great around the ankles and wrist.

The coldness of the chain is what really worked for me. The way the chain lays on your torso is tantalizing to the senses and adds to the total package. The metal is strong and will hold up over time. I tried bending the loop links that run between cuffs and they wouldn't move. But I do suggest that if you are into hard-core roughness, you should check the loops from time to time to make sure they aren't spreading apart. It would have been nice if they were welded/soldered where they split, but I don't foresee it being a huge issue.

I pulled the ankle cuffs out to as far as they would go and measured. It's almost 10 inches round. Doing the same to the wrist cuffs you have a little over 7 inches. I have faith that the ankle restraints will fit mostly everyone, but not too sure about the wrist cuffs.

You get four keys with the restraints. Two for the wrist and two for the ankles. It comes on a dinky ring but this is easily replaced. They obviously left the real metal for the combo, which works for me.

This wrist and ankle combo is a bitch to get out of and it is meant to be. Without the key, you aren't going anywhere. Plus it has a double lock so even if you found a way to wiggle out of this, which is impossible, you won't get through to the 2nd lock.

The metal weighs close to two pounds. Take a moment and hold it in your hand. You can't dispute it, these cuffs were definitely meant to last. Although they have a bit of weight on them, they don't weigh down your arms and ankles, which is a good thing if you are sensitive in these areas.

The chain measures between 15 & 16 inches before it connects to the wrist and ankle cuffs. The chain between the two ankle cuffs measures almost 16 inches, while the chain for the wrist cuffs is a mere 4 inches. I'm 5ft even and the length worked perfect for my size. Standing up while in the restraints, I was barely able to lift my hands to my waist.

Walking is possible but very limited. Movement in general is limited which is what these restraints were intended for. No matter how much you pull, tug, or fight, you have limited mobility and won't get far. Perfect accessory when coupled with a chain and leash.

Legs can still be spread while in restraints but not far. Remember you're only working with 15 or so inches. If you chose to, you could use a spacer bar in conjunction with the ankle cuffs. Positioning your captive isn't impossible and honestly because he or she is completely helpless in the restraints, your wish is their command, which helps to add to the arousal for those who get off on restraining. For me, I enjoyed the helpless feeling and having to beg for help when allowed.

You will get your moneys worth with this combo!

You always want to make sure that you inspect your cuffs frequently. The locking mechanisms, key holes and hinges should be free of dirt and lint as much as possible. You don't want to expose your cuffs to water or other liquids, but if by chance this happens during "play-time," you want to dry them off at your first possible chance.

The cuffs are made to withstand abuse, but you still want to keep them safe as with all of your restraints. If you want to keep your cuffs for a long period of time, then don't just throw them around or allow residue build up on them.

Although these are double locking cuffs (meaning they lock with a key and they have a slide mechanism next to the key lock is which the 2nd lock), you want to make sure not to over turn the key. In some cases this will break the little "flag" on the key, the little square part that sits on the end of the key. You can use a very small amount of spray oil to lubricate the key hole, hinge, and swivel part of the cuff. It is always best to use a good quality light weight oil on the restraints in general. Storage will greatly determine how often you must tend to your cuffs.

You can use a water/bleach (10 parts water to 1 part bleach) solution to clean your restraints and soak them for ten minutes, but you must make sure to thoroughly dry your cuffs. You don't want them to get tarnished and doing this over a period of time may take away from the shiny finish. DO NOT boil your cuffs; they will definitely tarnish in no time.

I looked around on EF and did find a toy cleaner said to clean metal because I am completely adverse to submerging metal in water for extended periods of time. It is the Before and After Toy Cleaner by Classic Erotica.

The metal wrist and ankle cuffs come in a flimsy box. As a matter of fact, when I received my package, the restraints had slid right out of it and were roaming free in the shipping box. I can just imagine what the postman thought as he delivered my package and heard them rattling around. The metal cuffs are heavy and so I would have thought that they would have been sealed in a package that could handle them. WRONG!!

But it's really not a big deal. I have a nice velvety lined wooden box that they fit perfectly in. With metal, I always worry about tarnishing, but I learned a little trick. Ladies, you know those little silica bags that come in your purses and shoe boxes? Just throw them in with your metal and they will suck the moisture right out of the air, helping to fight the tarnishing process.

The only nice thing about the box the cuffs come in is that it is very informative. It provides detailed instructions for both wrist and ankle cuffs separately and also tells you the complete contents, what to lubricate them with, and that they are made with nickel plated steel.

For me, being bound goes beyond the chains and ropes. However, every time I closed my eyes and lifted my arms, I realized that I couldn't go anywhere and it heightened the excitement. The chains tease you by making you feel like you have all the lead in the world to run, but when you try, you don't get far. I can't shake the cool sensation of the metal down my torso and in between my legs. Ummm, I'm wet now thinking about it.

I enjoyed the way the metal felt chains felt against my flesh. It was almost as erotic as the feel of the cuffs on my wrists and ankles. I can't really think of anything I didn't like about the whole experience.
