Contempo mega - male condom discontinued by Ansell - review by ~LaUr3n~

In a search to find larger, non restrictive condoms for my partner when we first started dating, I sort of went on a condom shopping spree. I never did end up trying them all out before I fell in love with the Trojan Ecstasy condoms. These were lying around in a condom shortage and I am glad I randomly ended up using them. I was really impressed! The fit was pretty damn good and the smell is low. The lubricant isn't the greatest, but you can always add more. I definitely recommend these condoms to those who need larger ones and are on a budget or don't need or want the added frills the Ecstacy condoms have. Unfortunately, I found out that these condoms are actually discontinued. There is good news, read on.

Compared to average condoms:

The Contempo Mega condom is .0027" thick which is standard for average condoms. I swear it doesn't feel that way though! It really does feel thinner than an average condom in my fingertips and on my guy. I'm not really sure why this is. The latex is very stretchy and forms well to the curves and crevasses of an erect penis. We did feel more sensitivity with this condom compared to other ones of average thickness.

The length is great! Average condoms have a length of about 7.5" long- that includes the reservoir tip. The Mega is a whopping 8" long and that doesn't include that tip. The extra length is perfect for guys who are above 7" in length since these are probably fine for guys who are about 7.5". The reservoir tip isn't as "pointy" as those that you normally see on Durex condoms. It's more gradual and rounded with more room for ejaculate. It will probably hold about two teaspoons of liquid.

The back of the package shows these condoms as being much more tapered than they are. Eden's picture is much more accurate to their true shape. Their head width is about 2.4" which is much larger that the average head width of 2.125". It's on par with Magnum condoms. The extra room allows for the necessary head friction that causes arousal for most men and helps them stay erect.

Average shaft and base width is 2". This condom has an excellent width of 2.2" So not only is this condom longer, it is wider as well. Those who find average condoms too tight, will really notice the extra room in these condoms. The base is not smaller than the shaft though. Be careful when removing these and pulling out.

The latex smell of these condoms is really low and faint. It doesn't really linger much either. The lubrication is water based, but there is not much of it. When I unrolled the first condom, it looked like it was drying up a bit. I could tell that the lubricant was silky, but it didn't last long and needed reapplication of another lube. I did notice that these seemed to be lubricated a tad on the inside as well.

They some in a lavender plastic wrapper that is easy to tear open. We also found that the condoms were easy to roll on and take off. The box the three pack comes in is larger than normal three pack boxes. The back and inside has a lot of information about condoms and how to use them. When I was using this condom, I was thinking to myself that it felt and was shaped like Lifestyles condoms. This is the good news. The back of the package says to go to Lifestyles.com for more information about their products. So if you like this condom, you can try the Lifestyles XXL condom since these are discontinued by the manufacturer.

My partner and I were impressed by this condom, but not wowed by it. For the price, these are the least expensive decent XL condoms we have tried. We were both able to finish using them and neither of us found them unpleasant. They do need better lubricant though. That is the biggest draw back.

Too bad these are discontinued. They were very affordable and reliable. If you can find them online, you should try them out.
