Good Idea, Poor Performance

The Happy Kitty is simply not worth it. The designer should have concentrated on creating the same sort of in-and-out motion with a little more strength, and then this toy would have been a great alternative to vibrators. I can stimulate my clit far better with a finger.

Use

This is not actually a vibrator, but it is a clitoral stimulator. It works by creating a gentle sucking or tapping motion, not vibrations. It is designed for the clitoris, but I suppose it could be used for nipples as well. It is not useful for any other body part.

Material / Texture

The pink part of the Happy Kitty is what comes in contact with you, and this is silicone, which makes it very safe. I liked the smooth feeling of the silicone and the bright pink color. Altogether, it is a very cute device. The central doughnut-shaped area is what your clitoris is supposed to rest in, and in this area the silicone material seems thinner and quite easily depresses from just a little pressure from your finger.

The joins between the silicone and hard plastic seem sturdy and well-made, and they did not collect lubricant or fluids.

Design / Shape / Size

The handle on this is very ergonomic. Some sex toys I have wrist fatigue on when using them, due to the angle I must grasp them at and/or the handle shape, but the Happy Kitty does not have this problem. I can position it and keep it in position in a very relaxed, non-stressed way.

The Happy Kitty doesn't look anything like a sex toy, and it is overall rather small, so I believe you could travel with it discreetly or perhaps not be embarrassed if you accidentally left it out and guests saw it. However, if anyone actually asked you what it is, you might have to think hard to come up with an answer, as no alternative function readily suggests itself to the mind.

Functions / Performance / Controls

There are basically two things you can do with the Happy Kitty, however you can't do them at the same time. There are two circles (one inside the other) and there are three raised bars outside and above the largest circle.

One, you can use the three raised bars to stimulate your clitoris by grinding or tickling, the same as you would with any tickler or vibrator sleeve or with any similar ridged silicone object. This use does not require the power to be on and works the same either way. It is good, but not any better than any random ridged silicone object.

The second thing you can do is to put your clitoris inside the smaller, inner "doughnut" shape and turn on the power. There are various speeds and patterns you can use, but they all do the same thing at different speeds or patterns. That thing is to pop the inner doughnut in and out. This is not a feeling like a vibration, it is like a very light sucking (especially if you add lube to create a better seal). When in motion, the inner doughnut rather reminds me of a clenching and unclenching asshole. The motions it makes are noticeable and look like that, and are perhaps a few millimeters in each direction (the direction "in" and the direction "out" as it does not move from side to side).

The controls are difficult to learn to use. The buttons are tiny and right next to each other, so you may need to use your fingernails to hit the correct buttons. Another problem is that pushing a certain button can have a different effect, depending on what the toy is already doing. You can understand how to work it by studying the directions well and by practicing with it quite a bit while you are not masturbating with it, but until that point it will be very confusing. Additionally, once you start masturbating you cannot see the buttons or the indicator lights (the buttons light up different colors to indicate which mode you are in), unless you hold the Happy Kitty in a much different way than I do, so once again you'll need a lot of studying and a great memory to work it properly.

The battery pack is poorly designed. It has a rubber ring to make the battery compartment waterproof (I have never used it in the water), but this is partially defeated by having a pack that can be connected to the rest of the machine in two different ways, but only one is the right way. If you put the battery pack in wrong, it will seem to latch (you'll feel and hear a click), but not really latch, and it'll be loose and the motor will refuse to start.

Care and Maintenance

Since it is part silicone and part hard plastic, I simply wipe it well with a sudsy cloth and then rinse it under water. It also comes with its own wipes, but these run out fast. The silicone parts cannot be removed to sterilize by boiling, and of course the entire thing cannot be boiled. Since it can't be sterilized and it isn't the right size or function to use with a condom, this should not be a shared toy.

It comes with a very cute bag that works well for storage, however the white cloth of this bag is slightly see-through, so if you are paranoid about that you'll need to have a drawer or somewhere to hide your Happy Kitty.

Silicone should not be stored in contact with other silicone (putting it in its own bag prevents this) and only water-based lube should be used with silicone. The doughnuts and ridges present a complex surface, and it can be a little work to be sure you've cleaned all the lube off.

Packaging

It comes in a cute box with lots and lots of instructional material (almost too much, except that it is a very complicated toy), and it comes with a cute bag that doesn't look at all like an ordinary bag. The box it comes in is cute but flimsy, not suitable as long-term, but it could be wrapped for a gift.

Personal comments

I believe this toy is great idea, but a flawed execution of that idea, and it's so cute I wished I could have loved it. If the same manufacturer came out with a new design, I would be first in line to buy it because I really like the idea of this kind of clitoral stimulation. I want to find a toy for my clitoris without the numbness induced by vibrators or the feeling of having an orgasm that doesn't go as high as it should because of the clitoris getting too-strong stimulation from a vibrator during the orgasm, right when the clitoris is already going into its refractory period.

Unfortunately, the Happy Kitty isn't that toy.

Experience

I learned the buttons on the Happy Kitty well, which takes some work. I fell in love with its cute design and wanted to like it. I've tried using it both with and without lube, numerous times.

I don't think there is a trick to this that I'm not getting. I believe I've managed to create a suction around my clit by using plenty of lube. The Happy Kitty feels a bit better when I create the suction, but it still doesn't do much. The only good thing I can say about its performance is that it continues performing the same motion even if I press hard, which is not the case for many non-vibrational clitoral stimulators.

What the Happy Kitty feels like to me is if a moth were sitting on my labia and fluttering its wings, hitting the tip of my clitoris over and over. It is simply not enough to get off, or to even get very excited. You might think I'm exaggerating, but I'm not. In comparison to the Happy Kitty, even the lightest finger pressure feels strong. If I put my finger on my clit and barely move it up and down the slightest amount that I can move it, this feels much stronger than the Happy Kitty.

I love non-vibrational clitoral stimulation. I love using my finger on my clit, or having a (gentle) partner use a finger. When I do this, I don't have to press hard or move rapidly. Very light, soft movements are what I like. When I got the Happy Kitty I was hoping to have an experience like using my own finger, but without needing to work or concentrate, merely to hold the machine in place. Instead, I got an experience so unlike using my finger that I'm surprised the toy made it through research and development and actually ended up hitting the market.
Follow-up commentary
I am not waiting to write this follow-up. I'm writing it now because I know there is no chance that my opinion of the toy will change. I threw it out about a week before I uploaded the review.

I believe I gave the toy a good chance to change my opinion since I had it for well over a year; and even after I thought I'd given up, I would occasionally bring it out and try it again. It simply doesn't work for me and never will. Now that it's gone from my life, it certainly never will.

I kept the bag and still like it. That's the only good thing I got out of this toy.

I wasn't aware you could even write a review on a discontinued product. That seems useless.
