Halter babydoll - babydoll and panties set by Escante - review by G&L

The Halter Babydoll by Escante arrived with the usual cheap black hanger, wrapped in tissue paper and clear plastic. At first glance, I was a little let down, but optimistic.

It has a nearly 5" tag attached which shows two pieces of lingerie, neither of which is this particular piece.

I immediately went to try it on and show it off. The Halter Babydoll fit fairly well (I tend to defy sizing charts). I ordered a medium. Here are my measurements:

The halter top is definitely more suited to a C cup, although from the waistband up was my favorite part of this piece.


I really liked the lace in the bust and waist areas. They are basically the same color, although different patterns, and the waistband lace is slightly shinier. Both fabrics are fairly stretchy. There is also no liner on the lace, so I would not personally wear it outside of the house.

The top secures with a basic closure, however I found it looked better in the bust if I just tied it together instead. The closure is small enough that tying it isn't bothersome, although I did find myself resenting that I needed to do so. The straps themselves are little more than a bit of lace ribbon attached to elastic.

The bottom part of the piece is sheer fuchsia and not particularly shiny.

The sheer portion flows away from the body in basically an A-line shape and overlaps some in the front. When you rub the fabric between your fingers it feels kind of gauzy. Even though my hips are my largest body area, it did not hug them at all. I found myself wishing that this part of it was a little less sheer. It almost seemed to magnify any imperfections.

This babydoll also includes a matching g-string.

The g-string (medium) has a 26" circumference unstretched. The entire waistband is elastic, so it will stretch really far. I barely even noticed it was there while wearing it. The triangle of fabric is 5" wide at the top and 8.5" long on each diagonal. It has a cheap tag attached that can be easily removed.

The babydoll portion is made of 88% Nylon and 12% Elastane. The g-string is 100% Nylon. Neither piece felt itchy or tight. Both the babydoll and the g-string are to be hand washed in cold water separately using only non-chlorine bleach if needed. The tag says to line dry and not wring or twist it. I would recommend some Woolite Delicates or a lingerie cleaner (EF sells plenty of options). You can also iron it on a low temperature if needed.

When I first saw this Babydoll Halter by Escante under new additions a couple weeks ago, I just knew that it was the first piece of lingerie I wanted to try out and review for EF. I immediately ordered it and couldn't wait until it came in the mail. Upon receiving and trying it on a few different times, I really just don't recommend spending $25.99 for this piece of lingerie. If it were $15, it would be OK. The top lace is pretty enough and I think I can tweak the bust region to look pretty good by tying it instead of using the closure. The primary reason this babydoll is going in the "rarely worn drawer" is the bottom portion. It really is too sheer to be flattering on most body types. It has plenty of room, but it doesn't leave anything to the imagination. I've always found that my favorite lingerie enhances but still leaves them wishing for more, and this babydoll didn't do either.

This halter is still not flattering. I do not wear it, and I wish I had picked something else. It is not as flattering as I expect from my lingerie.
