This strange, sparkly, nubby, purple dome of silicone is a replacement head for the Hitachi Magic Wand. That's right folks, the weird, creepy softball-like head of the Hitachi pops off and can be replaced by a number of more sexy, body-safe heads. What a revelation! Although this is only one of a variety of nice options, this was the one I was most attracted to, for a number of reasons that I will get to later.

Now, how do you put this guy on your Hitachi? Well, if you are me, you don't read the instructions and try to fit it over the Hitachi's head. Then you go, that can't possibly be right, and you start to read the directions. Then the light-bulb goes off and you realize that you remove the head and pop this one on. That's why it has those four little square corners on the inside, to fit onto the piece inside the Hitachi. Awesome! And yet, rather embarrassing.

Can anything else be done with this toy? I guess you could stuff a bunch of bullets inside it, or something, but it really is for this sole purpose. So, if you love your Hitachi, but, like me, only really like to play with silicone, or you want a bit more sensation than the usual head gives you, this is a great replacement head.

As I mentioned before, this toy is made of silicone, which means it can be sterilized by boiling. The instructions say to boil for two minutes. But this isn't any silicone--it's sparkly purple silicone. Commence oohs and ahs. Now, as my friend says, "my vagina is colorblind." Good point, but the sparkles do look really cool when the wand is turned on. And one thing my vagina is not is apathetic to is texture, which this little head has in spades. The nubs are pretty intense, especially in conjunction with the famously intense vibration of the Hitachi. I certainly like it better than the original head, but people who already feel that the Hitachi is too strong--maybe look at a different head, because this one might take you over the edge.

A couple complaints: firstly, this is not the nicest silicone ever. In a certain way, I don't really care, as long as I can sterilize it. But it's far from that smooth, sexy silicone that Tantus makes or that velvety silicone on Lelo toys. It is kind of nubby, and feels like regular plastic. Also, it has something of a chemical plastic smell, that didn't go away with boiling. Lastly, some of the little bumps at the bottom are actually sort of popped. I don't know if this is common, or if it happened when I was trying to fit it over the Hitachi's head. It really doesn't matter, because the ones at the top, that actually make contact with my body, are intact.

This is just a really cute toy. I absolutely dig the purple sparkliness, and although I think it is a bit cheap in construction, it totally does the job and makes my Hitachi look awesome. Kind of like a sea urchin or something. But it's so worth it to be able to remove the head and clean it after every use, and not have to use a condom on the weird white head. If you are satisfied with the original head, knock yourself out, but personally this was a big improvement in my Hitachi experience.

I'm not sure if this toy made the Hitachi louder or not. I kind of think it did, given that the other head was thicker and perhaps worked as a dampener for the sound. However, I could be wrong, because the Hitachi surprises me with it's loudness every time I turn it on. I don't think it makes a big enough difference that that should deter you from buying this toy, if you're grooving on it otherwise.

The head itself is waterproof, but please remember that the Hitachi is plugged into a socket and should therefore come NOWHERE near water. EVER.

As I said before, this toy can be removed from the Hitachi and sterilized in boiling water for 2 minutes. After that, you can dry it off and put it back on the Hitachi. If you're the only one using it, you can take it off and wash it between uses. When it's dry, you can just put it back on the Hitachi and store it that way.

This toy came in a little clear plastic box with the instructions on the inside. I now store the original head in that box. The instructions tell you how to use and take care of the toy, and I found them very clear.
