I Thought Butterflies Were Gentle Creatures

Please keep in mind that not all "rabbit" toys are the same, and this one is not for a first time rabbit user. However, if you feel you can handle rotating girth and a powerful egg, then go for this steroid-fed butterfly.

Use

This butterfly-themed rabbit is used for both vaginal penetration with a main shaft and clitoral stimulation with an attached butterfly. The package states this toy is waterproof and can be used in the bath (please see comments in design section). The shaft rotates both left and right with rotating beads and head, while the butterfly vibrates by way of a two speed egg; both vibration and rotation can be used at the same time.

As this is a porous toy, please use condoms when switching between vaginal and anal play, and most especially when using this toy to play with others.

Material / Texture

Comprised of TPE (porous material) for the shaft and stimulator, this toy is phthalates and latex free, and is hypoallergenic. The handle for the controls is made of hard plastic. Overall, there is no smell and does not need airing out. However the material does have a slight tacky feel.

The texture is rubbery, allowing the toy to have a "give skin", and is covered with a lightly raised pattern in a floral motif. There are also shallow grooves on the head of the shaft. The butterfly's body is smooth, save for a lightly engraved smiley face. The beads inside in the middle of the shaft also provide textural stimulation.
    • Bumpy
    • No odor
    • Somewhat porous

Design / Shape / Size

This toy is definitely not suggested as a introduction to "rabbit vibrators". The size is slightly intimidating as the smallest part of the shaft circumference is 4 inches while the largest is around the beads at over 5 1/2 inches around - use silicone or water base lube and some warming up to get this in. The overall length is 10 inches and the butterfly is 3 inches long and raised at an angle - incidentally not at a convenient angle, either. Insertable length is 5 inches.

As mentioned, the package claims the toy is waterproof, but I would not suggest using it in the tub. The control panel is a separate piece mounted onto the handle and looks like water could easily get inside. It is, however, safe to wash the shaft and butterfly under running water.

The battery compartment is easy to open and close with a "pop-off" lid at the base, and the compartment has imprinted directions on which direction the batteries go in. There is also a small paper insert in the package to further illustrate the procedure. This toy takes 4 AAA batteries (not included).

Discretion is not a strong feature of this toy. Security at the airport will know what this thing is, and will likely smirk indulgently at the cutesy-ness factor of the butterfly and flowers.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The butterfly is a dual action toy with both vibration and rotation features. Controls for both are located in the handle, and they can be operated independently or together. The rotation function has an on/off press button and a left/right press button. The vibration function has an on/off press button as well, and a low/high press button. In total, there are four buttons and all are clearly labeled.

The vibration is from an egg located in the butterfly portion; there is no vibration in the shaft save for what transmits down from the egg. Low produces very little vibration in the shaft while high produces a lot. A middle option would have been nice. The egg is quite powerful on the high setting, and makes my hand go numb after a minute of holding it directly. The low setting is acceptably quiet while the high setting is loud enough to be heard across the room.

The rotation has two parts - a 2 1/2 inch wide band of four rows of beads, and the head of the shaft. The rotation function allows you to chose whether you want the beads to spin right or left, and the head rotates in a tight circle. This is the noisiest part of the toy, and can definitely be heard through a closed door. Oh, and it sounds like a hand mixer on top of being loud.
    • Easy to use
    • Multiple settings
    • Not discreet at all

Care and Maintenance

Simply washing with antibacterial soap and warm water or toy cleaner will keep it clean and sterile. Storage is not too much of a problem, but will likely take up any smells in the vicinity. As for lubes, silicone and water base are best for this material. It is suggested to remove the batteries when not in use to prolong battery life.

Packaging

The butterfly is packaged in an easy-open plastic clamshell package. The text card lists its name and features on both the front and back, as well as having a large picture of the toy on back with "vibration" and "rotation" action-illustrations. As mentioned, there is also a small paper insert on battery instructions. There is also a web address listed on the package to register the toy.

Personal comments

It would make an interesting murder weapon in the board game "Clue", as the heft in the handle could do some serious damage. "It was Mrs. White in the Conservatory with the Best Buy Butterfly ... um, wait, Mr. Boddy objects to being popped off by something this ridiculous." Although holding it by the head with the rotation on ups the scare factor - or the surreal factor.

Experience

This thing hurts and gives me a headache every time I used it. I had to press down on the butterfly to get any of the vibrations, and the rotating was quite uncomfortable for me. Add to that the loud hand-mixer noise (which is made worse by the fact that my room is just off of the kitchen), and I was glad to put this thing back in its package. Torquemada would be proud of this torture device.

Great review! I loved the Clue reference, too, and adore your sense of humor.

I'll have to try to remember to come back and vote once they get this glitch fixed that has been plaguing EF tonight. (Poor tech people must be going nuts trying to get it sorted out!)

Great review! This one actually looks like a lot of fun, minus the noise. But it looks like it would be nice for some fun when I have time alone.
