Petite flutter - rabbit vibrator discontinued by Cal Exotics - review by Breas

The Petite Flutter by Cal Exotics arrived in a plastic, rectangular package. The front of the packaging states the company name, product name, material, and a few product features. The toy can be seen through the front of the packaging so it’s not discreet.

The back of the package states the same information as the front along with more product features, a photo of the toy, and company contact information. The packaging can be used for storing the toy, though it is a bit bulky. If you don’t use the packaging for storage, it can be recycled.



Petite Flutter is a rabbit style vibrator with a very slender shaft. Compared to my other rabbit vibes, the Flutter is just a little baby. It’s adorable! The slender shaft makes the toy perfect for someone who is either new to insertables or a seasoned toy user who prefers the thinner toys. The only texture to the shaft is the 2 dipped areas at the top, inner area. There is a seam line that runs vertically along the inner area of the shaft and around to the back of the toy. I’ve never been bothered by seams but it may bother those who are seam sensitive.

The toy is made of silicone and the bottom portion of the toy (the handle/base) is ABS (plastic). I didn’t notice any taste or scent to the vibrator when it arrived. When I ran the toy along my arm there was a lot of drag. You can remedy this by using a water-based lubricant with Petite Flutter. The toy is waterproof so it can be brought into the shower or bath as well.

Total length of toy: 8 3/8 inches
Insertable length (shaft): 4 ¼ inches
Length of rotating bead area on shaft: 1 inch
Circumference of shaft: 2 ¾ - 4 inches
Distance between shaft and clitoral arm (at top of arm): 7/8 of an inch
Width of clitoral arm (at widest area): 1 ½ inches

The circumference of the shaft begins at approximately 2 ¾ inches and the base has a circumference of 4 inches. As mentioned, there are 2 “dips” at the top area of the shaft. The first dip is 5/8 of an inch from the top of the shaft and the second dip is 1 3/8 inches from the shaft. The dips are subtle but can be felt when inserted. I like the textures but others may not.

The shaft has rotating beads inside of it. This area is about 1 inch in length. The beads are stainless steel. The clitoral arm is flexible so it can be pushed away from the toy. When I was bending the clitoral arm, I could bend it to a 90-degree angle easily.



Petite Flutter requires 3x AAA batteries, which are not included. The battery compartment is very easy to access and is located at the bottom of the base of the toy. The lid just twists and pops off. There is a white piece that slides out that you put the batteries into. There is also a clear o-ring to prevent water from getting into the compartment but just be sure to secure the lid tightly to the toy before bringing it into a water setting.



There are 3 buttons at the bottom front of the toy. The bottom button is the power button, the middle is a squiggly line that controls the clitoral arm, and the top button controls the rotation of the shaft/beads. What’s nice about this is that the shaft and clitoral arm are controlled separately so you can have both on at once, or just one of them.

So first we turn the toy on by pressing the bottom button. When you turn the toy on, you’ll know it’s on because the buttons light up a nice bright blue colour. The top button, which controls the shaft, has 3 rotation speeds: low, medium, and high. Press the button once to turn the rotation on and the beads and top of the shaft will begin rotating. Press the button again for medium, and once more for high speed. If you press the button again after you’ve hit the third speed, you’ll turn the rotation off.

The middle button, which controls the clitoral arm, has a variety of speeds and patterns. To turn the arm on, press the button once. Press the button to cycle through the patterns to find the right one for you. The functions for the clitoral arm are as follows:

1. low, constant vibration
2. medium, constant vibration
3. high, constant vibration
4. medium pulsing
5. escalating pulses (in both vibration intensity and length of pulse)
6. fast pulsating
7. pulsating- short, short, long and repeat

To turn the toy off at any time, just press the bottom button. When you turn the toy off and then on again, it doesn’t save the pattern/setting you last left off with. Both the shaft and clitoral arm are quite quiet. I’d say that when you have both running on their highest setting, it couldn’t be heard through a closed door. The noisier of the two is the shaft because of the rotating beads.

There are two ticklers at the end of the clitoral arm that are just under ½ an inch in length. You could always cut these off and just use the rest of the arm for clitoral stimulation if you aren’t a fan of the tickling sensation. The clitoral arm has a 3 out of 5 vroom level on its highest speed. I’m a power queen for external stimulation so this isn’t that impressive for me. What’s even sadder is that once you turn the rotation of the shaft on, the clitoral vibrations get weaker. Even though the vibrations are a bit weak, they are more rumbly than buzzy.

The rotating shaft is nice but not very powerful. Also, the beads are said to be “non-jamming” but if you clench while the toy was inserted, you could stop the beads from rotating even on the highest speed (this may depend on how strong your pelvic muscles are though).

To clean Petite Flutter, just use a bit of soap and water, toy wipes, or a toy cleaning spray. It’s extra easy since there really isn’t much texture and the toy is waterproof. You will probably want to clean the toy both before and after each use since the material likes to pick up lint, pet hair, etc. You can sterilize the toy but wiping it down with rubbing alcohol. If you share the toy and for some reason don’t want to sterilize it, cover it with a condom every time.

Being a power queen, I wasn’t completely satisfied with the toy. I’ve deducted only one star from the rating because of lack of power. Everything else about the toy is really nice though and I think it would be an excellent choice for beginners or those who prefer the more slender insertables. You just have to be okay with the moderate vibration levels this toy provides at top speed. It’s quiet, waterproof, silicone, multi-speed and function, and is a fairly good price for a rabbit style vibration… if only it had the power I needed.

It's not that I don't like the toy. It's that it's not a toy for me. It's actually a fairly decent toy if you're okay with the lack of strength. I'm a power-queen and this toy just doesn't satisfy me. It's a shame that it doesn't have more power because it has many incredible features.
