The Micro Power Egg by California Exotics comes in an easy-to-open clear plastic package contained within a plastic box. This box boasts that the Micro Egg is waterproof, has the following functions of vibration, pulsation, and escalation; is quiet and powerful, and covered in velvet cote. The Egg's functions are provided by an ergonomically designed i4 controller, which is very similar to Topco's Push-4-Play controller.

The egg is definitely "micro", with a length of a little over 3 cm and a diameter of a little over 2cm at its widest point. A seam runs around the egg's middle, visible upon close inspection but not obvious when you're actually using the egg. Both the egg and the battery/control pack are covered in very pink velvet cote, giving it a soft, silky texture. The two components are connected by a cord about 26 cm long. The cord is covered by a watertight seal where it enters the control pack. I did not see such a seal where the cord enters the egg, but the rubber cote closes in on all sides of it and could be hiding the seal from view.

The controller is ergonomically designed to be easy to grip. A single, large button situated in the top half of the battery pack controls both on/off and cycles through the four functions. The cycle goes like this: on, fast pulse, slow pulse, heartbeat pulse, steady buzz, and off. All of the functions vibrate at the same intensity, just at different rhythms. The drawback of this design is that, although simple, there is no way to quickly turn the toy on and off. Likewise, if you miss the function you wanted, you have to cycle all the way through and start over again.

The battery compartment opens at the bottom with a good quality waterproofed screw-on-top. It requires 2 AA batteries and two stickers on the inside of the battery compartment show how they go in. However, the two cylindrical cavities for the batteries are a little snug. It is a little difficult pushing the batteries into their proper places and very difficult to get them out again. It took me about five minutes to take my two rechargeable AA Energizer batteries out and by the time I wrestled the two batteries out, my fingers were sore. If the battery compartment were just a hair wider, this problem could be avoided.

I tested this egg both in bed and in the shower; in both settings, the egg worked well. Before entering the shower with the egg, I made sure to screw the lid tightly shut so that the waterproof seal could keep moisture out. After using it in the shower, the battery compartment was still perfectly dry and the egg, although I could not see how the cable was waterproofed where it enters the egg, functioned normally. Because of its small size, some may prefer to use the egg as a clitoral stimulator. When it is inserted, the vibrations provided are still strong, but the egg may be too small to provide the internal stimulation that some women crave. Others, however, may find that the egg is perfect for both external and internal use.

Cleanup for the egg is relatively simple: A thorough rinse with warm water and antibacterial soap should do the trick. However, do keep in mind that Velvet Cote contains rubber, so it would be wise to cover the Egg with a condom when sharing with a partner.
