iTap vibe - traditional vibrator discontinued by Cal Exotics - review by markeagleone

My wife added this one to our collection of toys. Yes, she saw the four different I-Tap products and is on a quest to collect them all. To date, she is only missing the egg. I'm sure that will be added shortly. On to the review:

The I-tap vibrator is made by Cal Exotics. It is the standard or traditional vibrators. It vibrates, has a rigid body and gets the job done. It comes in lavender, pink, and white.

The specialty that this vibrator offers is five different vibrations and no control switches or knobs. It's a simple touch of the base to start and change the functions.

To shorten the list of what it can do, I will give you the opposite list of what it can't. You should not use this toy for anal play. Also, this toy will probably never get to the G-Spot. Everything else is fair game, male and female. Anywhere that responds to vibrations is a go.

This particular vibe cannot be immersed in water. There is , however, a small seal on the battery case that should allow a fun playtime in the shower. It can be used in solo or partner play. I would also put this in the category of both beginner and advanced. Its design follows the beginner, but its vibrations and ease of controls may also appeal to the more advanced.

The I-Tap Vibe is made from Velvet coat and plastic. It is latex and phthalate free. It is also hypo-allergenic. Doing a bit of research, as this is the first product I have run across that has this, this material is a polyurethane coat on top of PVC plastic. It has an endless set of uses, dependent on specific needs. I am sure that we all have ran into a variation of this, in one form or another.

There was no smell to this product. It has an extremely smooth feel to it, hence the term velvet coat. The shaft of the vibrator is rigid. There is no separation from the "skin" of this vibrator to its inner core of plastic.

There is absolutely no ridges or grooves on this toy. The best feature of the material is that it is soft to the skin and offers minimal friction when rubbed on the skin(without lube).

The I-Tap vibe comes in three colors, which are lavender, pink, and white. The vibe is 7 1/4 inches long with a base that is approximately 1 1/2 inches long. The insertable length is 5 3/4 inches(tip to base)long and is 1 inch in diameter.

The base has six small valleys and crowns for easy finger placement to the touch control.

The vibrators shaft and battery cover are completely seamless and smooth. The only seam area is where the battery cover attaches to the shaft. There is also a gold warning sticker on the base saying not to use the toy over swollen or inflamed areas. It also lists it is made in China.

The size of this vibe is perfect for the beginner. It has easy controls and a simple design. It has features that an advanced user may also like. It is great at doing an all over body massage as it is rigid and the material it is made from is smooth and easy to move, even without a lubricant. It also has no ridges or valleys, that may be intimidating to some. It is a great toy for a couple to use.

Before using this toy, there is a small sticker at the base, which tells you where to touch. This is where your finger is placed for the touch controls. Accidental changing of settings can easily happen, depending on how you hold the toy. Also, keep in mind to keep your finger away from the touch area when installing the batteries. If your finger is touching that part, the toy will not operate. A simple removal of the battery case and reinstall will remedy this situation. There are special, small, ridges and valleys for your finger to rest. The control is easily changed, so be aware of where your finger is when you use this vibe. It is easy to use in the dark or when it is out of sight.

The functions are:

First- Low vibration
Second- High vibration
Third- two low pulses, one high
Fourth-High pulses
Fifth-low pulse, high pulse

The low setting I would put as a battery operated shaver. The high setting is more towards an electric shaver. It will be heard through a blanket and through a hollow framed door. I would recommend music to drowned out the sound. The vibrations are located at the tip. They are felt quite strongly through the entire length.

The toy can be used in the shower. Just make certain the battery cover is closed tightly and the o-ring is in good shape. Do not submerge this toy in a tub or pool. Doing so, may destroy this toy.

I would not recommend taking this on a plane. It is small enough to fit in larger size purses or a suitcase. Remember, keep the toy in a zip-lock bag or something similar.

Care and maintenance of this vibe is quite easy. Do not boil this toy. For one, it cannot be immersed and two, it will destroy the covering on the plastic. Wash with warm water and soap. You can also use alcohol or a toy cleaner, if needed. If you share, wear a condom! I always recommend not to share.

This particular toy takes two AA batteries. I always recommend having a spare set on hand. Remember to remove the batteries for storage.

I would also recommend storing this toy in a plastic zip-lock bag. Although this material is not prone to attract dust and lint, it can be stained by other colored inks and dyes.

This toy is compatible with both water based and silicone lubricants. I recommend the water based for anyone that has an extensive toy collection. Better safe than sorry!

The I-Tap comes in a normal box. There is a plastic cover on the toy. My wife and I store this toy in the cover and box. Make sure the toy is thoroughly dry, before storing.

The box is 2 7/8 inches wide by 1 1/2 inches deep and 7 3/8 inches tall. It is white and shows a picture of the vibe on the front, back and one side. It says it is by Cal Exotics and is a product made in China. It states,"Just tap 'n go!" It also says to wash before and after each use and remove the batteries when not in use. It also says "Do Not Immerse in Water." The box itself is not discreet.

There was no directions, but the toy is pretty straight forward on use. Remember to remove the small decal on the base to use.

This toy is one of a collection of I-Tap products by Cal Exotics. There is also the G-vibe, Bullet, and the Egg. You will be seeing more of these in future reviews.

This particular vibe can be used for an all over body massage. That was how we started the night. Although it cannot reach the G-Spot(traditional vibes are not designed to), it did a wonderful job on the clitoris. The differences in vibrations are great at starting off where you want and finishing where you need to be.

I still can't believe how the material feels. For the all over body massage, no lubricant was needed. The material didn't stick or have any kind of rubbery feel to it, whatsoever. It definitely is high on our list of toys.

Now, on to my wife's thoughts:

This I-Tap line of products was an immediate eye catcher for me and is one of the main reasons I began purchasing this line. I chose to start with the traditional vibrator first, it is not intimidating and seemed very simplistic. The technology had me curious, as I have not come across anything remotely similar, as of yet. A lesser important component to my choice was the color. I have a tender soft-spot for shades of purple.

Speaking of tender soft-spots, the feel of this vibe is silky smooth. As you run your fingers or hands up and down the shaft, there is almost a delicate feeling of a soft powder and yet there is no powder on it. Having this vibe pulled across the back of your hand or other areas of your body, there is a ever so slight smooth resistance. This makes the vibe a perfect alternative to hand massages.

The i-Tap vibe is not complicated to use at all, which gives a feeling of ease to beginners. There are no dials or buttons that you have to fiddle with, just a light tap in the middle of the base is all it takes to turn it on and change through settings.

This non-intimidating innocent looking vibe is deceiving though. It packs quite the vibration. On the first setting it produces a fast rattling sound, that I did not notice through the other settings. With only 5 settings that run between vibration/pulsating/and escalating it makes usage for people less experienced with toys extremely easy.

We did use a water based lube during our play time with this vibe. The box only states that lubricants compatible with rubber should be used. This was a fun toy for clitorial play as well during insertion. There was no "drag" to the toy and even without the lube, the little resistance that could be felt was pleasurable.

My favorite setting on this particular vibe is the third setting, I like the short, short, long combination in the vibration. The vibrations are a bit strong but not overpowering or uncomfortable. The other settings that this vibrator has are equally stimulating. This vibe is not meant for g-spot stimulation. Applying this to sensitive areas such as the nipples was a definite arousing adventure, especially when my husband cycled through all the settings one by one.

The i-Tap is a vibrator I would recommend to all beginners, more experienced users might find this toy less appealing due to its nature and simplicity. I love the ingenuity of the vibe, but this design also is not so easy to travel with. Unless one took out the batteries, it could very easily turn itself on with a gentle bump of a finger. There is also the factor that because it takes only a tap, accidental switching of settings is bound to happen.

Personally, I found that this toy is easily one of our toys that will have continued use. It is so simple in design and use, that I would have a hard time not using it.
