Well, yeah, you have to test it! I mean, that's what all good cooks do, right?

I like to bake the refrigerated dough, but not 100% - I like them to still be a bit soft and gooey in the middle. I like my brownies that way too.

JR, your logic is beautiful. I am a big cookie dough fan, but our daughter is allergic to eggs and we can't keep basic dough that we could buy at the regular store anywhere near our fridge because of it. Before I had her though, I had found those Toll House break apart cookies, and I used to buy them just to eat a few balls of dough a week. When my cookies are actually baked by me, I still like them a bit soft and chewy. As for just store bought cookies, I'll eat any cookie put in front of me. My absolute favorite, a Girl Scout Samoa.

I love cookie dough in all states. Frozen, raw, freshly baked, everything. I'll never turn down good cookie dough.

right out of the oven or raw cookie dough depends on what sounds good at the moment

I agree. Once they have cooled down, they're just not as good.

I've heard raw cookie dough can have worms, because of the egg.
Eggs do not have worms in them. Until recently eggs still in the shell were one of the healthiest foods on earth. Until you broke the shell, the inside of the egg was considered to be practically sterile. Even chickens that were infected with salmonella, laid absolutely pure eggs. Unfortunately, not too long ago, the salmonella bacterium found a way to get inside eggs, so now you have to be sure that the flock that you get your eggs from is salmonella free. Of course the number of eggs found with salmonella inside are still extremely small. Apx 1 in every 20,000 eggs. So it is still very unlikely that you would get sick from eating a raw egg that you just cracked open. However, if you leave a shelled egg sitting out, the same proteins that make eggs nutritious also make them great breeding grounds for bacteria. But either way. There are no worms in eggs.

Why do I care so much about eggs? I have small backyard flock and sell healthy free range eggs.

Same here. I don't eat cookie dough and I prefer my cookies soft. I love big soft chocolate chip cookies or my own homemade sugar cookies. Yum.

Not a big fan of raw.

Both.

I snack on the dough as the first batch bakes. Then eat the fresh baked ones as soon as they're done being dangerously hot and repeat the process until I'm satisfied.

Ah, so it was a myth? Well I'm glad to hear that, thank you. I do love cookie dough, but I'm always afraid to get sick from it.

Edit: Er, I guess it isn't a myth, but it's nice the chances of getting it are slimmer than previously thought. I think I will still stay away from raw eggs though, because I'd rather not chance it.

I bake my cookies; since I make my dough from scratch it usually has raw eggs in it. But I once bought cookie dough from my cousin for a fundraiser and happily ate some of that fresh from the fridge.

Apparently the best way to eat cookies is baked. Baked to high heaven on champagne. Check out this video. (Sorry, I can't figure out how to embed it.)

I'm not keen on the possibility of salmonella from uncooked eggs... although I do eat eggs over easy. Is that redundant?

I like underdone cookies, baked cookies, cookie dough. When I make cookies and cake from scratch, I make them with no eggs and no salmonella!
