#EdenLit - October, 2012 Club Meeting Recap and Topics

Airen Wolf Airen Wolf
This month's meeting was full of ideas about story starts and novels we have read. Tying in what other authors have been successful at or conversely not so successful at can help us to align our own work with what works, so to speak.
I offered the chance for club members to write our story starts and the club was excited to try! For this month I will write one but starting in December the story starts will be written by other folks. The fun is just beginning.

This week I posted two more Eden Lit Lessons:
Punctuating Dialogue
Writing Great Dialogue

Our Featured Author for October is ScarletFox. Check out her latest work: Date With The Devil

This month's topics are:
*Open Topic- Write about whatever it is that sparks you this month. Genre and style are yours to choose!
*Poetry Open- We acknowledge that almost everyone writes poetry. So come on out you shy poets and dazzle us with your gripping words!
*Thanksgiving Folly- We have all had holidays where we wished we were ANYWHERE but there. Some border on dark comedy and others are just plain absurd. Tell us all about your Thanksgiving foibles. Did your Dad nearly burn down the house frying a turkey? Did you have the police called to your house because of a fight? Did the kids do something memorable? Fact or fiction we want to hear all about it!

Story Start
It was hot, the kind of hot that sits in the back of your throat and makes you swallow convulsively to relieve the pressure. Airless and merciless the outside temperatures soared to record breaking highs by the early morning hours. I had taken a cold shower and the water seemed to sizzle on my skin as I tried to dry off without rubbing the towel over my body. The friction from the towel rubbing was normally sensual, and even a hint sexual, but today it was just this side of hellish.
Finally, you decide that turning on the air-conditioner would be a good idea, and I roll my eyes at your retreating back. You feel some mystical change in the air and whirl around to confront me. I am not quick enough to school my face into the passive mask you demand.
Your eyes blaze and I am now shaking with....well not fear exactly, but I am feeling exposed and deliciously naughty.
You shake your head slowly as though regretting that you will have to remedy this little slip of decorum on such a miserable day. I think on any other day you would have laughed it off but today you are determined to have your pound of flesh.

~What? I told you I was going to make it completely erotic this month. Enjoy!

Our next meeting will be on November 12, 2012 at 3 pm est.

Definitely going to try and get something written this time around . So do we just have to have it finished before the next meeting or is there a different due date?

I post a clickable list and choose the featured writer one week before the meeting. You can post right up to the day of the meeting but if time runs out we may not get time to discuss the work.
