One of my favourite books is called Trickster Makes this World. It's about trickster myths from different cultures and times and how they all involve that transition from one world to the other and back again. This book then goes on to talk about how in our modern culture, that trickster role is filled by artists who show one side of the world to the other and play with the boundaries between the two.
