This is very embarrassing but I suppose I'm not the only one who has dealt with this.

My partner and I engaged in anal tonight and after we were finished I noticed an odor that wasn't exactly flower fresh. It wasn't overwhelming but I could notice. I'm wondering if this was a result of not being as clean as I could have been? I had prepared earlier during the day and washed extremely well. Should I douche on top of this? I never have before.
Can one put a bit of diluted soap into a douche, or is this harmful? Also, can one douche *too* much?

I guess it depends on what the smell was. Assuming you aren't talking about a smell that is fecal in origin, it could be the naturally occurring mucus found in the lower digestive tract. I've smelled that coming from myself as well, and it certainly has a funky, disagreeable odor, albeit certainly not overpowering. I can't address your other questions, though.

One can indeed douche too much. I wouldn't douche anally more than once a week, and try to avoid any anal interaction for at least a few hours afterwards. I would also avoid adding soap to the mix. I'm not an expert by any means, but it doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

However, if somebody more experienced with anal play comes along and has a different answer, I'm all about hearing it.

Stick to water only, and wait a couple hours afterwords before having sex.

I agree with Sam, I don't do it more than once a week. I've done it more than once and my whole system was thrown out of whack.
