Do you believe it is possible for someone to have an orgasm without realizing it, and maybe thinking that it was just arousal or pleasure and not actual release?

This happens to me at times.

No i don't think it's possible because sex feels so so much different than the actual orgasm. There is a distinct difference

Of course it's possible. There are people who orgasm without secreting anything either (this applies to male-bodied people as well).

In my case, there has never been any question I have read plenty of experiences where people have said they didn't know they were having orgasms.

It makes me happy to see that so many people on this thread think it IS possible to have an orgasm without knowing it. Although it's thankfully not a problem anymore, I had a really difficult time getting to my first orgasm, and I can't tell you how many variations of "if it happens, you'll know it" I heard. In retrospect, this seems like completely useless "advice" to me. A combination of not knowing what kind of stimulation I liked and being on anti-anxiety meds made it really hard for me to know what was going on with my body, and to be honest, I don't know when I actually had my first orgasm because I had been lead to believe that all orgasms were these massive, head-exploding events. It's now pretty obvious to me that I was having weak orgasms, but it would have been nice to know that I was on the right "track," so to speak--telling someone that what they're feeling can't be a "real" orgasm if they're not sure about it just seems unhelpful to me and, to be honest, a little dismissive of people's differing experiences :\

To this day I'm not sure if I've had one or not. There are rare occasions where I'll feel a definite increase in tension, but after that it's anyone's guess. For me it's more than "pleasurable vs. not". I can't even seem to get any sort of physical release. If anything there's a build, but no actual "climax", (a lot of times it'll actually start to hurt, and then I have to talk myself down).

So agreed!

Even now, I have the occasional orgasm that is, well... anti-climatic.

I would say it would be possible to not notice a very small orgasm. Sometimes people speak of orgasms as "mind blowing" or "earth shattering" when sometimes...they just aren't! (of course they can be at times too)! I could totally see someone who is expecting a huge sensation overlook a small one. But they are all nice!

I have a friend with exactly this problem- she simply loses her arousal and that's her orgasm. I can't imagine how frustrating that must be!

It's a little off-topic maybe, but it happens to me once in awhile in my sleep - I wake up not sure, but having those little aftershocks, after "dreaming" I had an orgasm. Female wet dream I guess.

Almost anything is possible... but I maintain that it doesn't count as an orgasm if you aren't sure!
