BE HONEST.....have you ever been the "last minute shopper" on Christmas Eve trying to find the "perfect gift" in the CVS drug store, the Kroger gift isle or the 7/11????

We all know there are millions of people in those stores, at ten PM or later..."shopping" for something, and it ain't a carton of milk or candy bar.

Have YOU ever been one of those? Private poll, so be honest.

Wife just reminded me I DID that myself one year, when our daughters friend ended up staying over with us, TOTALLY last minute, on Christmas eve....when her parents got called away for a family emergency and they did not want to drag her...at 11 years old, into it. (her close uncle had committed suicide...it was an awful mess).

Thus, I went running out to the all night CVS and WALGREENS and ended up getting her a bucket of little nail polishes, a really cool sweat shirt, a watch and a few other nice things, and SHE was in hog heaven happy with the gifts she got. I had even bought scissors, tape and wrapping in the store, along with a bag of bows, so I could wrap everything in my car before rushing home.

Thus, it CAN be done.

I've done that for stocking stuffers before, but not for anyone's main present.

It's actually kind of become a joke in my family to do that. We always have stockings full of toothbrushes, deodorant, cough drops, etc. It's never anything that anyone "wants" but it's at least useful and everyone uses it all so that's good at least.

Too funny. THAT is a great sense of "family humor".

Yup. Sadly I have been one of the last minute shoppers out at Christmas Eve although it's sometimes for a few last minute groceries or a stocking stuffer etc..

Yes, generally because someone had just given me a gift unexpectedly and I felt bad about not having one for them.

Sadly, that's me.

I work the night shift and find it really hard to get out during "normal hours". I try to find one day to get somewhere either really early in the morning or right before they close, but this year might be "whatever's open 24/7" year.

My local Target was open until midnight for Holiday shopping and I might be in there again on Tuesday feeling like a weirdo in an almost-empty store.

... looking at kids' toys at 11:30 at night in the dead quiet all by yourself. Awkward.

I may have to tie up loose ends (pick up a gift card or something) but never an important gift.

No way, I'm too organized and can't stand last minute shopping. I don't even like 1 week before and not have anything. I want everyone bought before a few weeks ahead of time.

That was a good thing you did for your childs friend.

I had to vote other. My hubby is a procrastinator all the way. We are going today to get the Christmas shopping done. We have only picked up two things. In all fairness he works about 60hours a week and 6 days a week, so we do not get much time to go out shopping, but I hate waiting until the last minute. It drives me nuts, we should only be picking up the last minute gift cards, that is it. Instead we have to go shopping for everyone still.

I can not go shopping by myself, because I do not have a license.

How does one exist in 2011 USA without a drivers license? (Unless you are in a BIG city with tons of public transport, maybe)????

Coming from a big family, there's usually someone I miss. But, fortunately, there's Amazon.

I go on the last day. But not at CVS. I also end up getting more that I need to get. Oh well it is the holidays.

I'm the type of person that keeps a mental list of everything, so that means I tend to forget something important once in a while. And yes, that has included gifts, which are sometimes searched for at CVS or the grocery store.

They have pretty good stuff for small/vaguely impersonal gifts. I assembled raffle prizes from Rite Aid before:

- $15 starbucks gift card, fancy chocolate
- nerf gun, coloring books, bubble bath
- Rainbow nail polish, glow in the dark nailpolish

I don't think it's a BAD thing, but it's also not very personal..

I go just to find stocking stuffers and random cheap gifts. Also, my CVS and Walgreens are open on Christmas day.

Nope, mostly because I get really, really cranky if I don't have it all wrapped before the 10th-15th. @_@ I'm a bit obsessive in that respect.

I'm lucky that it hasn't happened quite that bad more than once or twice. I HAVE had OMGLASTMINUTE purchases to make though, plenty of times.

Nope, never last minute shopped like that. If I'm buying for someone, I like to get the money together and get it at least at the beginning of the month (or sooner if I have to mail order it). I don't have many people to shop for, so it's not much of a problem.
