Have movies simply become TOO expensive to see in theaters????

$24 for three tickets, followed by $40 for some popcorn, drinks and candy (not much of any of them, either), simply is feeling a bit TOO expensive.

What is YOUR take??

Usually around 20 for tickets for me and my boyfriend.

He -ALWAYS- has to have a slurpee. He's a total big kid like that. Usually around $5.

Sometimes I'll get popcorn depending on if we are going out to dinner before/after. Around $7.

Bring my own candy. $3-5.

Not too bad for a date night. I wouldn't see everything in theaters, but it is nice. I don't think too expensive either.

I think it's a little costly since I remember going on a date in HS and getting a 10$ and being able to get by.
However, I usually bring in my own candy and drinks, and sometimes some tacos... but then I usually buy a popcorn or something to split when I go out on date night.

Yep, too expensive for our tastes. For that price we can buy steaks and a couple of DVDs, and watch them at home without the distractions of rude talkative peeps, cell phones going off, or crying kids around us. Plus we don't miss part of the movie when one of us has to pee (lol)

The movies have always been extremely expensive. Usually for 2 adults where I am at on average is around $15 to $28 depending on time of day and regular movie or 3d movie.

The drinks and snacks are way pricey. I generally always just take a couple of water bottles, or some other drink to the movies along with a snack. That's one advantage to my partner having a huge bag she hauls around. But from time to time I will get the Pretzel Bites with Nacho dipping cheese mmmmm those are gooood. Otherwise I try not to spend money on anything other than the tickets.

Not really. I go to the matinee showings and around here that's $5 a ticket. You don't have to buy food and drinks.

Forget to mention that nearby here they have what's called "The Cheap Seats" which is a movie theater that shows movies that were released many many months ago. Like right before the movie Limitless came out on DVD they had it showing at this place and it was only like $4 per adult to see it. We will do that now and then. The screen size and overall appearance of the place is nice and looks sort of antique or from the 20's lol.

Considering the overall inflation that affects everything, I don't really think the prices of admission is that unreasonable for movies. However, there is no denying how much they gouge you on the prices of snacks. (of course, the extra money they make from snacks probably does help keep movies from costing $20 per ticket).

Where I live a live performance is less expensive than going to the movies...so yeah - too expensive.

We have a 'dollar movies' here (Depending on time/day it's between $1.00-$2.50 a ticket) so that's where we go. The films are usually all old and warn, and we only see them a month or two after they premier, but it;s a great deal!

I haven't been to a movie in years because of the cost!

I will not pay $40 for the family to see a movie. I will buy it or rent it instead. Plus most movies are not even worth the cost of buying the dvd.

We've cut back on how often we go to the movies. We try to eat before we go or sneak food in.

I almost never bother going to theaters unless my friends convince me, and even then we go during the week and sneak food in. Unless the visuals are absolutely breathtaking, the movie's probably just as good on the home TV.
