I don't want to give away a whole lot of personal details but her parents were/are heavily involved in town politics.
They obviously knew how to manipulate the system to get "revenge" on this poor boy for "defiling" their daughter. Luckily, these situations are more and more rare.

Although very sad when it happens.

As for pissing on a children's playground fence.... sometimes one has to think before taking an action.

I know one person who's on the registry (or at least was), and I don't know the full story behind it. I know enough to know that it wasn't a forceful crime and was more of a misunderstanding, but that he did go to jail for it anyway.

I know a man who when 19, had sex with his 16 year old girlfriend. Her parents pressed charges to the fullest and as a result he was placed on the sex registry. When she turned 18 she married him and they have been married for 28 years. Beautiful family. He is not allowed to take his children to school, coach his kids sports teams or anything else that sex offenders have to restrain from.

Hate it when a good law goes bad.

The idea of someone going to jail for a misunderstanding is distressing.

But years ago (Probably 5) My husband was looking online at the state registry. Imagine our shock when we found one of his family members on the list.....

Uh yeah...we were never made aware.
