I don't watch the news very often, it's so upset how screwed up the world can be. In the past 5-6 weeks everytime I turn on the news or listen to the radio there been a ton of sexual abuse scandals with adults, teachers and coaches sexualy molesting kids. What is wrong with these people? I don't understand how anyone could do this to a child or another person. That screws them up for life, I just don't get the world and todays society.

While it's shitty, I have to be that person that says it's not just "Today's World". Historically, and in other areas of the world even now, it's been even worse. The only thing about "Today" is that we have mass media.
I guess I'm trying to be ?optimistic?, saying that although crappy things happen, I don't think we're on a downward slide in that regard.

Sometimes lack of secrecy and stricter sexual abuse laws can stop the events from going further or even starting. Not often, but even if it prevents future occasions with the same or new victims, it is a good thing.

Sexual abuse has been happening for decades, it was just kept in the closet and no one talked about it, the victim was "to blame". Now we are more aware and have learned that the abuser is the culprit and starts the events through grooming or worse...we've come a long way, but still have so far to go.
