A lot of the time the question comes around 'Are you a dog or cat person?' The problem is that there are so many other types of pets that just aren't considered. So do you have any uncommon pets? What are they?

Personally, I have two female ferrets at the moment and my family has previously fostered injured or sick weasels, kestrels, and cougars (among others).

At the moment all we have are cats, dogs and fish but in the past there have been all kinds of lizards, rats, mice, a few frogs, some snakes and tarantulas.

My kids have had dogs, cats, horses, cows, chickens, albino hedgehog, turtle, fish & a rat. I think that's all of them.

Well, I live on a farm so...we have lots of animals ranging from chickens, geese, rabbits, cows, pigs, horses, and everything else!

I used to breed rats, but my rattery got wiped out by SDA.

I currently own 5 snakes. 3 Red tail boas, a Viper boa, and a Rosy boa.

I used to breed rabbits - both the flemish giants (my biggest is 19 pounds) and holland lops (the little ones with ears that hang down).

I currently have about 50 of them. One bunny though is our bedroom bunny. He uses a litterbox like a cat and jumps up on the bed to sleep beside us.

The funniest thing is that whenever we have private times and are done - I'll look over and see one of the holland lop bucks periscoping (standing on his back two feet only) and watching out the cage.

We decided this morning that he needs a stuffed toy.

Ok well sad to say my beloved odd ball pet passed away on me

But for the longest time I had PRAIRIE DOGS !!
Had a Female named Amy Loo that lived way past the expected life span, she was my love & I will have P.dogs again one day. I also had 3 boys, Ozzy, Ollie & Ace. I rescued them from a pet store that the FDA was going to confiscate (sp?) & kill them. The owner told them they died suddenly & I took them, they were taken to a p.dog rescue a year later once they were people friendly to find forever homes.. But now they are legal again so yes a prairie dog is on my list of must haves!! I have worked with them for many years & my motto is "There is no love like the love of a prairie dog" they are amazing pets & you become one of them as soon as the trust is built

I love rats! I haven't had a pet of any kind for a while now, but I would definitely get more rats if I decided to get another pet. I even have a rat tattooed on my leg!

Currently we have a dog and some fish. But I've always wanted a hedgehog. Use to have ferrets though. And use to breed rabbits.

I personally just have a rabbit and a cat, but I've previously worked in both aquariums (private and public) and zoos (public) and have taken care of many different kinds of animals.

Okay, I honestly have no pets right now, but I chose all the pets that I've had in the past.

I just recently had to give my two guinea piggies up for adoption I was heartbroken when I discovered I was allergic to them and the longer I had them, the more they killed my allergies. I loved those pigs. They were so much fun and loving.

But I've had hamsters, frogs, fish, birds (finches, love birds, cocketiels), guinea pigs, dogs, and cats. I think that covers everything....

Parrots! My partner and I have a Goffin's Cockatoo, a conure, and African Grey, and a tiel. They're such sweethearts, but they're a lot of work. The grey and the conure are both rescues, so they require extra attention. Don't get me started on bird welfare.

Hooray rescue animals <3 best way to go.

I rescued my piggies from a family whose son was hyper-allergic to them... and then 8 months later I ended up being hyper-allergic, but I surrendered them to a guinea pig rescue shelter and they found a new home within a week!

Where are FISH??? Lot's of people have aquariums...or ponds. Great fun (and can be some work too). Also, when it comes to DOGS (we are DOG people, no question), there are exotic dogs too. Wolf and Wolf Hybrids, Carolina Singers...etc. Same with CATS. There are Savannah Cats and other more wild breeds that people do keep as pets. Thus, even the dog/cat group can get fairly exotic.

I've had two turtles and a hamster before and for the longest time I have been considering getting a rabbit. They just seem so sweet. It's really too bad I can't move with them between states/countries the next few years. </3

We had a couple of "pet" ducks a few years ago. They were both female, and laid eggs. I never ate them, but one of my co-workers had me bring them in and I guess she ate them.
