Forums I have been a member of in the past occasionally have a meet up, kind of like a family reunion except they aren't your family and you don't have to hide your interests.
Sorry, but I imagine showing up for something like that, only to discover I know someone in another context. It might be a longshot, but it's too scary!

Oh that'd be weird!
And mostly I think that on the national level, it'd be really hard for most people to travel to. And for state level, there'd be so few people gathering for that one, it'd be more awkward.
Not that I don't imagine a really cool EF picnic! It'd just be way hard to plan oh when/where/how/who, etc.

As someone who would not attend, due to the above-mentioned paranoia, I'd still like to suggest that to make this a realistic possibility, anyone attempting to organize it might want to consider combining it with some other activity that others might be attending already, or might be interested in attending. In fandom (are you all tired of me providing these examples?) these types of group meet ups get arranged in conjunction with various conventions. Perhaps there's something relevant that might interest multiple members? Just a thought.
I think ToyGeek has a good idea about coupling a meetup with another prominent event. If there were an adult industry event, adult expo, or other type of event that I wanted to go to, it'd be icing on the cake to meet some cool folks from EF at the same time.
I don't think it would be a problem, for me, if it were put to a vote where for it to be, I think Las Vegas would be nice, plenty of things to do, and a night life! As for a little town, like say Fargo, ND, lol, don't think so, so where is important for me!!

I would like to just add, I did not say this in my first post, Las Vegas is also like a convention center city, for a lot of the food related conventions, and other kinds of conventions, so this may be a good place for this reason!!

Most major meet-ups are handled quite like conventions and are announced a year in advance so every can get their duckies in a row.

Yeah, that's what inspired the post actually. I was thinking how cool it would be to run into some of you at an expo and just kind of went from there.
PERSONALLY....... I'd love this! I think, maybe, doing it regionally would be best, though, unless we were ALL attending something like BlogHer... But we could do a Midwest one somewhere fun like Chicago or Omaha (Chicago is more fun, Omaha is cheaper for the traveler). You could do one on the East Coast, somewhere along the middle of the coast, like Richmond. Southwest in VEGAS or Pheonix. West Coast in San Fran.... several hour drive from Seattle AND LA...

A good east coast convention town is King of Prussia, PA -- it's outside of Philly, and it's basically a giant mall surrounded by hotels. I've attended a few painfully boring seminars there in the past. Philadelphia itself has all sorts of attractions, though.
We've (staff) talked about this many times...and have some cool ideas to share in the future- that will facilitate meet ups and events and such, which we'll be working to make a reality once our new Community Coordinator starts working fulltime (eeeek... I've said too much!!!)

Gary and I live in Philly, and yep, there's tons to do here!

It still wouldn't be conceivable for some people. Some just don't have the money, the ability to take off work, or what to do with x-number of kids, etc. Not saying I wouldn't love it, cause I would! Just that it's impossible to get everyone to do it and no amount of planning ahead would help them.
