prop8 decision: ruled unconstitutional

I think twitter is exploding with the news, but I couldn't resist posting it here too!

It wasn't just a win for same-sex marriage, it's a HUGE win. The ruling was amazing. Included this gem, "The plaintiffs demonstrated by *overwhelming* (emphasis added) evidence that Proposition 8 violates their due process and equal protection rights".

Judge Walker didn't just rule that it was unconstitutional, but that it was stupid, wrong, and based on hate and ignorance.

what do you think?

anyone celebrating?

My understanding is that it says it is unconstitutional as far as California's constitution is concerned. I'm sure it's an important precedent, but I wouldn't put a party hat on just yet. There's still work to be done! I think it will be heading to the Supreme Court.

I think it's awesome and definitely a step in the right direction! I lived in CA right before it was voted on, and the campaigns on TV were so confusing. It was hard to understand if voting for it was FOR gay marriage or against it.

Good for Judge Walker. Good for California. Good for the county. Most of all, good for all the good people who worked so hard, so they could have what a lot of heteros could get any day, and rarely appreciate it.

GOOD! i admit, I was one of the people going around and swiping the yes on 8 signs, was soooo mad at reading "it saves families" or whatever on them. Gay/les couples can have families, too, dammit!

My family won't be happy though, but to hell with them. They're close-minded to everything and racist, too.
