Am I the Only One Getting These Links?

Contributor: Rin (aka Nire) Rin (aka Nire)
Okay, this may not be entirely appropriate for this section of the forum, but it still kind of fits.

Anytime I see the word "dating" on Eden, it shows up as a link to a dating website. It's kind of distracting, and only a recent development.

Is this something new Eden's trying?

Hmmm, I haven't noticed it.

I haven't had that happen either.

Installed any new toolbars recently?

Nope. I'm always very careful, any time I do a download, NOT to install the toolbars. I haven't downloaded anything in the past two days, and this thing with the links only started last night.

It's a link to something called "rudefinder," and it seems less like a dating site and more like a "find a horny person in your area" site.

Firefox. I checked through the options and preferences and couldn't find anything pertaining to it. I've since noticed it on wikipedia and TV Tropes, so that rules out a hiccup on Eden.

Ok, I also have Firefox, but I do not have the same problem. Usually when this occurs, it means you have knowingly or unknowlingly downloaded some kind of browser add-on that is adding the keyword links to web page text. To check this possibility, you can go through your programs and uninstall anything suspicious that falls into the "add-on" category, or in the case that is it a more malicious piece of software, get a better virus program (like Kaspereky internet security) or download something like "Malwarebytes" (free) to check for the program.

Thanks, I'll check that and get back to you (also, Malwarebytes is the win!).

Thanks for the help, guys. I don't intend for this to turn into a technical help extravaganza. This is a happy place, so let's get back to happier threads!

Well, after getting a small glitch in my system and my dad getting rid of said glitch, the weird thing with the links seems to be gone, too. It was starting to happen with other words leading to other sites ("entrepreneur" going to some business school site, for example). Dunno what it was. I know setting links like that is common practice on some sites, so I was starting to get used to it.

Glad to hear it wasn't some sort of malware on your computer.
