Extreme anything whether it's political views or personal ideologies. These tend to breed intollerance and an inability to compromise or see the other side. Vegans that think everyone else should be too would be a prime example. More than 2 cats can be an assault on the senses and a definite turnoff. Excessive swearing or negativity and constantly refering to your ex are three more unsavory traits.

a persons ex is a part of them. I would not make it all about your ex but be honest. what is a turn off. if the person has no job. if the person has a very bad credit score. if the person has no goals in life. if the person has no savings for his/her future. also if the person does not know how to budget there money and save. if they cant pay off there credit cards in full every month. this all screams I am not responsible. I am going no where.

I think it is not anything different from what turns off a gal. I know this is not a definitive itemized list but...

This blog page pretty much sums it ALL up:
12 Things Men Hate About Women

In my observation, most men do not like to put up with women who nag non-stop.

turn offs:

poor grammar

chronic indecisiveness

lack of character

no work ethic! and laziness

selfishness

irresponsibility (including financial)

self-absorption

no intellectual curiosity

chronic lateness

poor hygiene

bullying

mean-spirited teasing

unkind to animals!!!!!

bad teeth/bad breath

chronic snorting/sniffling - blow your damn nose and be done with it! (And please God, do not wipe you nose on your hand or pick your nose!!)

smoking

drinking & drugs to excess - I will add the modifier 'frequently' to this because I don't mind someone drinking occasionally till they are buzzed, but I don't much care for drunkenness. I don't like recreational drug use.

being a wet blanket or a chronic whiner/complainer

dismissing me (in any sense!)

poor conversationalist

---wow, I guess I better stop, lol! So, how was that, Edeneve?

I didn't want to duplicate this post, but wanted to agree with all of it but the cats I don't care how many pets someone has as long as they are very well cared for and loved!

She kept pressing for MORE answers, lol! And I am kind of embarrassed to admit I rattled those off right off the top of my head! But I have been thinking about and discussing this topic recently, so that might have something to do with it.

I guess I could be less specific and just say I am turned off by negativity, mean-spiritedness, immaturity and lack of character. That better?

Oh, I know it said for guys, but what the heck? I decided to write in anyway, so sue me!. Oh yeah, that reminds me, I am turned off by litigiousness, lol!

I concur, for the most part. I'm perhaps been more tolerant of smoking and drinking though. Oh and by the way, one item that I would add for those women who believe that men are intimidated by intelligence. Please don't pretend to be dumb, it is not an endearing trait. I personally find smart to be very sexy and dumb a turnoff, no matter how pretty the package.

Hey, RonLee, nice to see you around!!

I'm allergic to smoke, so that influenced that turn off. I just can't abide mean drunks and that kind of thing is what I mean. That and a life centered around drinking because I can't drink -- yes, allergic to that, too (and very bitter about it, lol).

I am really glad you said that about playing dumb! And I think playing anything is dishonest and why would someone want to have to then hide who they really are for the rest of the relationship? (I considered dishonest as included under the lack of character)

Hey Edeneve, why not ask now for lists of turn ons, too?

Good point, but a movie can also stimulate conversation about it later and help break the ice for people who are not sparkling conversationalists, right?

I will add more turn offs:

--Never returning calls or messages. You know, the person you can only speak to if you catch them answering the call or you run into them in person. (In other words, people make time for what, and whomever, is important to them!!!)

--Only interested in talking about himself and never asking any questions about you (other than a quick, "How are you?" with absolutely no follow through. For example: the woman replies, "I am fine now, but I recently was in the hospital" to which the man then says, "Awww" or worse, a and nothing else!!) I thought this was included under dismissiveness in my previous list, however I think this needed it's own place.

So, Edeneve, can we just open this up to all people and relationships and their turn offs? I find this stuff so interesting and fun to read. I know, I already trampled all over the "rules" in the first place by answering as a woman. Oh well, I just couldn't resist! And I also wanted to keep your discussion getting answers because I hate good topics that get buried and few responses.

Well, if people want my laundry list (it's almost embarrassingly long and detailed, LOL!), take a gander at my posts above where I run off at the mouth, and I am sorry to say that was primarily off the top of my head! No wonder i am alone, eh? LMAO!

- Bad taste in clothing and culture

(Women in their 20's... not feeling jelly sandals... Jelly sex toys yes... jelly sandals NO! Wear what fits you, I don't want to think If I touch a razor blade to your ass your pants will shoot off and yes yes... I know you have breasts but you don't have to crush them and squeeze them out of your shirt to show me them. I respect you more with them in a nice T-Shirt then a v neck that goes down to your navel.)

- Bad taste in music

(I can respect most music but I cant hack those people who love whatever is popular because its popular. If you say you love Metallica you better fucking believe I am going to ask you about the albums before load.... .

- Bad Breath

(Seriously I don't mind tuna fish but on bread please)

- Inability to hold a conversation

(if we are talking and you dont know about something just tell me you don't know... Don't talk yourself in a hole then I am going to lose my respect for you.)
