Depends on your term of degrading. Actually degrading I don't think so. Degrading within the scene or "play degrading" then yes. If it is consensual then nothing is degrading, it is just you and your partner enjoying yourself.

I don't think that any consensual and mutually desired sex act is inherently degrading...I mean, if you get off on degradation fantasies and your partner does too, then the point is moot. But what makes something degrading, really degrading to the point of damaging, is lack of consent, or being coerced into consent.

Some gags can look scary, and some scenes are definitely meant to degrade but not all. I personally think it's less about the equipment and more about the acts being done.
