I'm in a great relationship for almost four year, I love her, I just hate marriage. In my experience, it's only something you do to avoid dying alone and will eventually destroy your spirit and soul (I realize this is an uncommon/unpopular opinion regarding marriage). I feel like she wants me to propose and I know her friends and family want me to propose. Where she's from, people propose after dating for six months, so they're wondering, but I never want to get married or have kids. For people in long term relationships, or married couples, did you ever feel pressured to propose?

It's his own thoughts that make him think about proposing while I don't think we're ready and don't want to really think about it unless he's willing to have a pretty long engagement. But I think friends and societal pressures as well as his belief that I might leave him if he doesn't propose make him think about the subject more than I believe he has to.

It's something that means a lot to us, so I'm not sure there's a lot of pressure. Timing is somewhat pressured by being in a LDR, but it's about when I would've wanted to propose anyway (and marriage timing is based on a lot of my family being teachers)
