silent treatment

Talking about whatever it is that upset me. (I used to do the silent treatment too, but it just never got me what I wanted! )

We use a communication technique called mirroring (or reflective listening) that we learned this past year - allows both of us to express what's bothering us without upsetting ourselves. It's helped us deal with everything from big issues to minor annoyances.

I tell him whats bothering me, the silent treatment would never work in our house. We need to fight it out.

Generally, I get very quiet. It's not a silent treatment; I just don't feel like talking. Fighting in our house achieves nothing but escalation. After I have calmed down, I then discuss the issue.
