I'm excited that the review program may be coming back. I miss the active community we had and the chance to review new items in addition to the ones I bought.

Obscura, thank you for updating the Description Review Guidelines!

I have a question: Let's say a rabbit vibrator operates with two motors that function differently, and the shaft's motor is much less powerful than that of the rabbit arm's, how shall we rate the toy? Thanks again!

Herzer, that's exactly what we're missing and trying to bring back. We're shooting for thriving, honest, and respectful community that anyone can turn to for information, advice, and ideas. First Description Review assignments have already gone out and will be getting published shortly.

That's an important question. Lots of factors should be considered when rating a toy, such as price bracket, materials, overall performance, and of course your personal preference.
However, some good thought should be given before the final rating. There are millions of us out there, each with their own preference. Less powerful shaft motor might not be a great fit for you, but for someone else it'll be a rare and dear find.
Whether you find that feature good or bad, it should be mentioned in neutral tone, so the reader can decide for themselves.

In the end, consider all of the factors and rate the toy as you see fit. You are the writer and the reviewer and Eden trusts you for a reason.

What I have done in the past for rating an item with multiple factors was to rate each factor separately, then average them out. Would this be considered still effective--or would you prefer that we separate the ratings in one of the review sections with explanations?

(My DR will be submitted within the next two days...)

Thanks Obscura. I hope I'm in the next round.

You mentioned in the Description Review Program Guidelines about preferences. Are we using the old assignment request system or should we send you the info on preferences?

I like your method of rating each factor separately, js. It brings clarity and attention to details.

A couple of sentences or a small(!) paragraph with an explanation of the rating is a nice touch as well.

I wouldn't want to create a 'rule' for you guys for rating. Reviews are works of creativity, not science and it's important that you don't feel constrained.

Herzer, I'll message you separately about the next round.

Good question!! We are NOT using the old system any longer. I (or another administrator) will be creating the assignments. But the reviewers will be a big part of the process as well - they'll help choose the right product for them, request certain items, etc

Would you be the admin in charge of the Task Market and the Mentor Program as well? Or will that be handled by someone else?

Nice to meet you!

That's a good question. I've wanted to edit reviews again for a while and haven't been chosen to do so, which is a bit upsetting.

I feel that these guidelines are ENTIRELY fair and accurate. I agree with them wholeheartedly - a product should be rated based on its price bracket as well as its features and how much it delivers inside that price bracket.

OK, off topic, but...please, admin, let Sir edit! We could really use his help and he can be relied upon to do a proper job. I am putting in my vote for Sir to edit!

@Sir, good to see you around! You might want to send a PM to Obscura and let her know you are a former editor and you'd like to edit again. I can imagine how frustrating it has been for you to know you can help and not be given the chance. Let's put you to work

@ OH&W, I am not sure. Honestly, I don't know if I can handle it right now, but I will give it a try at some point. I did take a quick look at the task market and saw that there's a lot of work to be done. On one hand that's great because it means new members are submitting reviews, yeah! On the other, the work backs up pretty fast. If I am able, I will certainly try to crank out as many as possible but I believe there is still a limit as to how many one person can edit per day. It's nice to know that there are/will be other people editing as well.

I did hear they have a few more editors and EF is also doing some of them. I wish there was a system besides Mentors to help new reviewers.

Some try but they don't give much info or follow the long version. Then when the reviews don't get good marks they get discouraged. I don't like to rate any down and will leave it blank or send person a pm with suggestions. I think also if they would understand to use the follow system, it would benefit them.

Just like you and others explained and taught me.

I like js250 thread trying to show new reviewers how others do it. When the new reviewers don't get any good marks or any marks, it must be discouraging. Perhaps EF should allow the editor or have someone give them suggestions before the review go to print. And don't allow newbies to use the short version. Though some use the long and still only write 2-3 sentences.

Just my long 4 bits.

Hi charmedtomeetyou,

I am not in charge of the Mentor Program. It's being evaluated at this time, so while its active for current mentors, new applications are not being considered. I'll keep everyone posted on the progress.

Better news for the Task Market, however. I am going to be in charge of it, but its also being restructured at this time. It's coming back shortly and will be less about the reviews and more about promoting.
Basically, our community members will be able to earn rewards (which will be centered around unlimited gift cards ) for twitting, facebooking, instagramming, etc, about Eden.
I am really excited about this program because it'll be easy for you guys to earn points which we will convert to awesome prizes, compete in promotional contests, and participate in other fun events. At the same time, Eden will get some first-rate exposure, igniting people's interests and getting some traffic through the site. Everyone wins!

I'll keep you updated on this also; this program is going to go live in a little bit.

That sounds like a fun program! I picture plenty of new accounts showing up on those social networking sites! And, or course, more transactions for Eden!

Obscura, is the warehouse fully-stocked to fill all those orders?
