D/s Reviewing

Contributor: VieuxCarre VieuxCarre
So, my partner just signed up and plans to review here. I know that many people have asked before, but I wanted to ask for my own clarity and frame of mind.

My partner and I are in a D/s relationship and will be using a variety of BDSM products with each other. I know that I will want to review the products from my point of view (being on the bottom) and he may want to review the same products from his point of view (being the top).

Is that allowed and/or ethical? Or should we decide which products will be reviewed by whom and just leave it at one review instead of two for one product?

I know when I've reviewed products that I've received for review, I usually write about the top and bottom aspect in my review. I think that having one comprehensive review would be "extremely useful" rather than two reviews that explore the different aspects of using a toy.

I know with bdsm toys it can be hard, especially because being on one side of the product and able to eloquently describe it doesn't mean you'll be able to extract the same from your partner. I know my ex sometimes was at a loss for words. Saying "it works well" doesn't equal a good review, lol. Since your partner is looking to review products as well, I would think that by specifically leaving out helpful information in each of your reviews (what it is like for the other side of the product) your reviews won't be rated as high.

As for ethical? I think if you bought the product yourself, that it shouldn't matter. If it is a sponsored product, I think you should give all information you have at your disposal.

I think a good example of reviews that encompass both sides of the product while still being written by only one person is Rayne's reviews.

Eh, I feel like I'm rambling and might not have made any sense.

You made sense. He had asked me last night when we were browsing toys how it would work if he wanted to write about the same things. He's going to be my student soon, so we'll see how well he is with reviewing things

Thanks for the input! By the way, I like your new blog layout. It's tres cute.

Him the student? Isn't that role reversal

Thanks. I like it too. I searched high and low for something simple but fresh.
