Should ALL reviews go through the proofreading process?

Rank has nothing to do with spelling ability. All reviews should be proofread.

Exactly. Maybe there should be an editing/grammar/spelli ng test involved in being exempt from edits, not just by rank. I've seen people with 2-3 reviews at high enough rank that they don't get edited even.

This is a great option.

I've seen several reviews lately that were not proofread because of rank, and they had mistakes in them. I think it would be good to proofread everything.

I think it probably wouldn't matter. I see reviews that have gone through editing that have just as many mistakes as the others.

It might be easier to have a "submit a comment/correction to the reviewer" button, where people can suggest changes privately, and leave the correction to the discretion of the writer. I think oftentimes little slips get overlooked when the review is submitted, but having the option to let the writer know privately would eliminate the need to have them proofread as a matter of course.

I think it is always nice for someone to proofread your work, although sometimes I've noticed that proof readers make errors (because many people do not know proper technical writing rules), but there are a lot of bias's on tech writing rules out there.

I agree that a certain point level is acceptable to waive the review process. It's possible that it could be higher, however and maybe subject to a 'check up' system. Just in case someone gets lazy.

"Higher ranked reviewers should be able to choose whether or not to have their reviews proofread by an editor."

And I as a lead programmer don't like having to get my code reviewed when I submit it to source control, but I'm human and make mistakes too damn it.

All reviews should be proofread by an editor unless you want the quality of reviews to degrade into something that looks like an elementary school student wrote it.
