Hi everyone, I'm new to this website, and I'd like to hear from you about how to get rid of that unpleasant smell after washing bootie butt plug?

where do you buy that 10% bleach solution that everyone talking about? is it a wet tissue wipe? or is a solution already pre-mixed?

please share your input. !!!

I have a 3 step process to clean my silicone toys.

-wash thoroughly with liquid dishsoap
-rinse, rinse it some more
-then boil for a few minutes.

You can also try running it through the dishwasher--no soap.

I have never used the 10% bleach solution...but it is easy peasy.

Mix 9 parts water to 1 part bleach. You can mix as little or as much as you need. It shouldn't take much for the bootie plug.

Dishsoap usually works for me, as does shampoo (rinse well). The issue is usually time - the smelly chemicals are attracted to the silicone in a slightly similar manner to the way the red color from tomatoes is attracted to plastic containers. Soaking in hot water for a while helps - it doesn't even need to be boiling. Another thing you can do is take it into the shower with you, wash with dishsoap or shampoo, and then put it somewhere that the water will be running over it the whole shower time.

I wash ours with soap and water, then get into the cracks (if there are any, a non-vibrating plug usually has none) with a Q Tip, then get out either the Clorox Clean Up or Clorox Surface Spray (these are either 10% bleach or more) and clean it with that, THEN I wash again, to get rid of any bleach residue. Or use a sterilizer bag (made for breastpump parts) with 2 oz of water if the toy is boilable.

Somebody was teasing me about getting an autoclave. I like my toys clean.
