Parents' Anniversary Gift

Contributor: Eden C. Eden C.
My parents' silver anniversary is coming up and I will be out of town. I'm really at a loss for what to buy them as I know what sort of gifts my mom would enjoy (jewelry, etc.) but not my dad. My parents and I are really open, so I have thought about making them a little silver gift basket of things like lubes, back massagers, massage oils, and romantic candles. Do you think that's overstepping a boundary? Would you do the same for your parents? I know that I would be the best judge because I know them the best, but I just wanted to hear what other people think.

The basket sounds cute but for my parents I probably wouldn't feel comfortable including the lube. The massagers, massage oils, and candles sound heavenly though. It's like a home spa package!

A home spa package might be nice, but I really don't have the kind of relationship with my parents to send them a really intimate basket. That would be way too weird with my parents.

If you and your parents are that open, that sounds like a great gift basket. My parents are divorced, but I would still feel comfortable giving my mom a basket that has the massage stuff in it and probably some lube. Some of the nicer massage stuff can be a great gift for just about anybody. I gave my inlaws a massage candle for Christmas, and I'll probably get the whole family some massage stuff or something like that for Christmas this year.

Thanks, everyone! I guess it really does depend on the family!

OOOOOh I already know I wanna get my parents some Jimmyjane massage stones and a good massage oil, and we're not that open about sex to each other. I think you'll be fine, especially if the lubes have nice discreet-looking packaging.

Well, I ended up buying them the following items and wrapping them up in a big silver gift basket with silver tissue paper and silver ribbon.

1. Good Clean Love Massage Oil Gift Set

2. Good Clean Love Lube Gift Set (Mom's favorite lube!)

3. Pair of Earrings (Mom)

4. Nair For Men (Dad is really sensitive about his body hair, even though it doesn't bother mom at all)

5. Silver floating candles

6. Ginger & Lemongrass bath salts (Dad's favorite scent)

7. Sunscreen (because they were going to Key West to celebrate, and my parents are pale white people).

I didn't ask any follow-up questions, but I assume that they had a great time!
