It depends on the brand. The outfit you picked is by Coquette, which tends to be pretty accurate on the sizing chart. Another great thing to do is read all the reviews you can on a particular product. The real women who have worn them can tell you more about sizing. And if you're still not sure, message one of them and ask specific questions.

My thoughts exactly!! Lingerie sizing remains a mystery to me.
I think I have the Coquette line somewhat figured out but not 100%

The sad thing about some of these brands is that they only carry certain sizes in certain outfits. It's rather depressing.

In my experience American sizing is larger than Eurorpean sizing.. when in doubt go smaller... Also look for lingerie that ties if you tend to be on the smaller size so that you can adjust it.

I have not tried Coquette so I cannot answer your questions about that specific outfit

Possibly see if there's a website that shows size conversion. Or even contact the manufacturer directly and see what they say.

What kinda miffs me is they say a size but then I don't know half the time if they mean misses, juniors, etc.

It's like on Hot Topic, I love the look of some of what they sell, but I found out I'd be considered 'plus size' and I'm not even fat or anything. They never have anything for the normal women out there, only the small, petite, skinny girls, and it annoys me.

Why can't sizes be more universal like with men's clothing?

There is generally a size chart you can click on - it includes the measurements (in inches) for each size. Maybe that will help.

sizes seem to be pretty accurate so far for me. The one size fits most are a little snug though and I'm pretty average size.

With Coquette, I find that sometimes they're right on, but other times, way off. I recently bought an item that should have fitted me according to the size chart, but it just didn't fit at all (couldn't get it on, it was so small!). In another case, I bought a Coquette item that should have been too small for me that fit perfectly.

Seems that it's all trial and error.

Most of the brands come with a sizing chart. On some of the products it can vary a lot. I also love to read the reviews to see if the run smaller or larger then normal sizing.

I love the way you think. But Coquette is always pretty accurate on their sizes, as NuMe mentioned. Very reliable brand.
