With so many of the toys lately having watch batteries has anyone found a cheap source for them?

And do they usually use the same type? Or do you get into six different vibrators with six different types of watch battery?

Okay, I misread your post and thought you were asking about all batteries. So here is my response, haha:

I use rechargeable AAs and AAAs, and rarely need any other battery. I avoid watch battery toys, as they're likely going to be too weak for me. I have one vibe that takes C batteries, but I don't care enough about having it vibrate.

I can't imagine continually buying batteries at this point. I have an amazing charger that takes both AAs and AAAs and charges each battery separately, telling me when each one is finished charging. You can set it to charge at different frequencies (?), which makes the charging process take longer, but your batteries last longer in the long run. I just got some Eneloop batteries and have been EXTREMELY impressed by them. They are reportedly some of the best rechargeables on the market because they retain their charges for longer. Plus, they're cute.

Yup, I use rechargeable batteries too.

I haven't tried a toy that uses a watch battery but there are a few that look interesting. It's nice to know they tend to not be very strong. Between the cost of replacing watch batteries and not getting the oomph I'm going to continue to pass right on over them.

I do not use rechargeables. For our battery usage, I should probably consider them but there's a thread around here which says they really lack oomph in toys.

I recently found 3 packs of a certain size watch battery at Target for $8.00. Of course, I needed 2 packs, and that is only for one toy. I also had to buy a special sized battery for the remote. It is a wireless remote vibrating egg that I only use for special occasions. So altogether I wound up spending $24 for batteries for ONE toy that will probably only last for a couple of nights of use. I just try to stay away from the watch batteries.

I only replaced watch type batteries on one toy, yes they are expensive. I felt the other toys were not worth it but I still have the toys.

try ebay that is where i get the watch batteries. I think that most of the toys use the same kind of watch batteries, or at least the two that I have that use watch type batteries both use the same kind.

I recommend rechargeable- I use them 99% of the time and I've never noticed anything wonky about how powerful they are- in fact, they've performed the same as regular batteries. They're easier on your wallet and the environment. Plus, you don't have to take a trip to the store for fresh batteries whenever a toy arrives- I charge 4 whenever I know a new toy is being shipped to me so they're at the ready.

I refuse to buy toys that require less than 2 AA batteries, I've found a few toys that were as powerful that relied on only 1 AAA battery but they're a rarity.

Rechargeable button cell batteries are inferior and have to be recharged often as they lose their charge pretty quick but here are some that are rechargeable: link

I agree with Sleeping Dreamer. There are rumors that rechargeables are less powerful, but I have been using rechargeables since I started reviewing and they have never failed me. I feel better that I'm not constantly buying and throwing away batteries, anyway.

Hmm. Maybe I will have to look into rechargeable. What about brands? I see Eneloop mentioned here but I've never heard of them. Has anyone had experiences with Rechargeable Duracells or Energizers?

Rechargeables can lack oomph in every thing after a LOT of rechargings. I use rechargeables in my camera, for example, and I get a new 4 pack every 6 months or so. The different in power won't be nearly as noticeable if you get a really good charger and some high-quality batteries, like Energizers or Eneloops.

There's plenty of places online to buy batteries in bulk. You have to get a lot that way, but they are much cheaper. Maybe several people could go in together to buy a bulk package?

Oh and I also use rechargeables for regular use. Like Epiphora, I have a charger that holds both AA and AAA. They don't last as long in cameras and the like - but for my toys I've had absolutely no issues.

I've used recognizable brand rechargeables... Sony, Energizer. I haven't done any tests or anything, but the Eneloop batteries I just got are amazing. I mean, people who have the means to do tests have found that they are awesome for holding charges. Check out this article for more info.

It's true, rechargeables do die eventually. They stop holding a charge. But they're so much better in the long run!

The Eneloop sound great!

I usually use the Energizer rechargeables made for electronics and they last fairly well but I think I'll invest in teh Eneloops when the ones I have now wear out.

I have used Energizer and Duracell rechargeable batteries in the past with much success. We recently picked up a 12 pack of Eneloops recently with their charger at Costco. My wife is using them primarily, so I cannot comment yet on how good they are, but they make some pretty bold claims about retaining charge that most NiMH batteries have problems with. We'll see if they live up to them.

I can't speak for Eneloops in toys, but in digital cameras, they've held a charge for at least twice as long as my other rechargeable batteries, and they've always lasted longer in the grand scheme of things.

My Duracell rechargeables died after just a year of use. I had 8 and would use one set of 4 while the other 4 charged.

My new Eneloops will be here Monday

Eneloops look sooo good! They last as long as 1,000 alkaline batteries.

I've had my energizers for a good two or three years and they're still holding up pretty well. Generics, on the other hand? meh. We're lucky if we get a year out of them.

Of course, I'm crazily conscientious about making sure they're dead, dead, dead before I put them on the charger and that helps. But the with the Eneloops it sounds like you have to worry about that less.

I"m SO getting some with my tax cash. LOL. A vacuum, sex toys and batteries. What a list.

that is my intention too- to invest in a charger and rechargeable batteries - comes with 4 AAs I think for under $20
