My guess is that demand was incredibly high at the lower price, so the company raised the price to lower demand to what they could supply, or the introductory price was just a sort of test to gauge interest. There's nothing wrong with that, it's a smart business decision. I'm just disappointed because I'm one of the people who was cut out by the price adjustment. I'm sure the company will find some kind of middle-ground on the pricing, or it will go down once it's been out a while and all the people who were willing to pay the higher price already own one.
If nothing else, as technology evolves and new products emerge, the prices of older toys drop (just think about all the other toy prices that have dropped or even been substantially significantly cut a few months after release! Or even cell phone prices that drop after a few months of release!)
It's not that I don't believe the prices will be reduced to the original level again shortly or that I think the price increase is unfair, but more that the price went up so much at once. That, and I'm sad I can no longer afford to purchase it, and I have serious Jopen lust.
