Spinoff: men who DON'T masturbate?

Contributor: bayosgirl bayosgirl
I find this interesting. My husband never masturbated until he met me and I "taught" him. Ever. (I'm sure he stroked it, but not to orgasm.) I wonder how common this is. If it's part of his culture (he's from Nigeria-a NOT very sex positive place) I bet a lot of men are in the same boat. I personally think masturbation-both for men and women-is a good thing because it promotes getting to know yourself sexually and may help young people/teens delay having sex..

My husband has always masturbated, but I never did until I met him.

My ex husband had never masturbated until I encouraged him to do so. He was 17 when I gave him his first orgasm. He grew up in a very strict, very sheltered house. He didn't even know what menstruation was. Had never seen a vagina, in pictures or otherwise. He knew how to masturbate, but had never even tried. He just didn't care to.

Even after I had started giving him handjobs and whatnot, he refused to masturbate for a long time. He just didn't want to. I finally convinced him that it was normal, fun, and I wanted him to and would think no less of him, so he finally did it. It took a while, but it eventually became a regular thing like with anyone else.

I didn't realize they existed.

A priest friend of my father's once told him, "There are two kinds of masturbators. Those who are honest and admit to it, and those who do it and say they don't. Nothing else." That was a freaking priest!

I always figured most men figure it out for themselves by the age of 12 or 13 or so. At least by 16 or so for most boys. At least all the men I know did.

I honestly don't buy the "they don't do that in that culture." It sounds like the President of Iran saying "We don't have homosexuals in Iran." Just because people have been forced to pretend they don't do something, doesn't mean they don't. Everybody figures out it feels good to touch their genitals. And adolescent boys ejaculate so easily, I can't see, unless they are being watched 24/7 (and who would do that?) that a reasonably curious and resourceful boy wouldn't figure it out for himself in record time.

It's weird that I find people that don't do it as strange. It's a healthy part of sexuality. The only thing stopping most people is their religious or cultural beliefs. How do you know what feels best if you don't try it out for yourself?

Personally, I had my first orgasm through masturbation years and years before I did with a partner.

I have a friend who thinks masturbating is gross. He was home schooled but his parents arent very strict or anything so I find it quite weird. He says hes never done it and doesnt want to have sex till marriage. I respect the second part completely, its everyones own choice. But the not masturbating part I find alarming, I dont think its very healthy. And hes kind of an uptight kid. I think he could use with some masturbation, I think it would let him relax a bit.

He doesnt get upset if you talk about it with him or anything but hes just like nahh thats weird.

I couldn't believe it either. But I do believe he was telling the truth. He had no reason to lie about it. Which probably sounds like bull crap, but we just had that kind of relationship. It wasn't that he was embarrassed or anything. It's kind of like he didn't have any sex drive until his first orgasm. He was interested in video games and his friends. He'd had a couple of wet dreams when he was younger, but that was it.

That's very strange. It's possible that he never did but others in his culture did, *shrug* I don't really know! I wouldn't call him a liar over it, just in most cases people probably do it secretly over there, LOL

i dont believe that! we need release!!!! sperm is like poison inside us and we need to release it. it builds up to a point where we have no choice but to release it! If i go thru a period of not releasing it i shake ,sweat, get nervous and aggitated. there have been many occasions where i had to whip it out an wack it off in public bathrooms, familys houses, work ect...
