Ladies, how old were you when you got your first period?

It is believed that as nutrition increases, and some say more hormones from cattle and other animals enter out food system, girls are experiencing menarche (first menstruation) much earlier than in the past. The Victorian woman usually experienced her first "Curse" at about 16, now the average is about 11 or 12. In developing countries, the average is much older than in Post Industrial countries like the USA and most of Europe, Australia and parts of South America.

I was ten and a half when I got it in 2002. I got home from school and felt something was happening down there. Go to the toilet and see a slight rust spot on my underwear. Have the first of a (so far) lifetime of cramps shortly afterward.

Interestingly, I actually started breast development and pubic hair growth even earlier in life. I was wearing a B bra by age seven. I wear an E cup now at 20 and they're getting bigger. >< My then sixteen year old cousin was shocked that I had pubic hair at nine. I can remember having it as far as eight years old.

Of course, my mother developed early too. Looks like I inherited not only her body type but also her fucked up (both our words) hormone imbalances. She was born in 1962.

Yep, I had pubic hair at eight years old, too. Are you Mediterranean or an other darker skinned person? We tend to be a bit furrier and get hair sooner. I remember begging my mom to let me shave my legs and underarms when I was 10 or 11. I needed to, and she tried to bleach the hair. It did not work. I don't know why I didn't just shave, without getting "permission". but both my parents had safety razors (before disposables were affordable) and I guess I figured I'd get caught or something. Finally around 12 she let me shave.

I let my youngest shave at 10, she was furry and has dark hair like I do, and for things like pool parties and wearing shorts, I think she'll be more comfortable. I bought her a small electric razor, as she is afraid of getting cut with a regular razor.
