Sex and children

I recently watched a movie (the name of which I can't remember for the life of me) and the kid came in while they were having sex and the parents just continued as if it was an education experience. Thoughts?

I guess I could see that happening as kids walking in goes. But to continue would just be wrong. Please keep in mind that it is just my opinion, I would think that one it would ruin the moment, two it would be a traumatizing moment for me and my husband I am sure, and three it really could do damage to the child depending on the age. I mean I am fairly sure a two year old would not remember after a while and you could somehow play it off. But older kids?

I know that my husband and I are very careful to make sure that this does not occur. I can not think of a reason for it being okay to do.

Me and my wife have a lock on our door for this reason children should not be exposed to sex at a young age I believe.

I don't think seeing people have sex is an experience young children need to be exposed to for any reason. Sex can often look violent to children, many people who accidentally saw their parents making love will say, "I thought my dad was hurting my mom."

It's against the law to allow minors to view pornography, I imagine the "real thing" is even more intense and probably borders if not crosses the border into some sort of sexual abuse of the child. (In fact, I KNOW it does. Allowing this could be reported to DCFS and would probably result in removal of the child from the home until an investigation was completed. It has happened, usually by parents or guardians who are trying to engage the child in some sort of sexual act.)

Also, seeing sex can stir up feelings and emotions that children simply don't know how to process.

I think it would be rather dangerous, psychologically, to allow a child to continue watching his or her parents have sex. Also, I certainly wouldn't be comfortable with it at all.

My husband and I are open about sex in general, itself, however, OUR sex life is something that we don't share with our children. And, honestly, our kids don't want to hear about it or see it. There is a natural reaction of "ICK!" when thinking of one's parents engaged in sexual activity, as humans are among animals who strictly avoid incest, this makes a LOT of sense.

I think letting a child view a Live Sex Show is a poorly thought out idea and probably damaging to the child. Not to mention illegal.

sounds a bit messed up to me. We always make sure our door is locked before go time.

That situation will never happen in our house, we always lock our bedroom door before having sex.

It's not right for kids of any age to witness their parents having sex. They should learn about sexual education through the proper channel, not by watching their parents humping each other!

Ahhh! I would freak. Lol. No. No. No No! I won't even go deep into this subject because I get carried away, but I don't think that is appropriate and in some states that is illegal. I totally understand mistakes happening. No big deal. It happens, but to let your child watch you is extremely disturbing and can be for a kid too. I know a little about how damaging that can be because when I worked as a housekeeper there was a couple who had just gotten out of jail and got their children back. Theyd gone to jail for child pornography (they had videos of their two children touching each other's privates and mommy and daddy instructed them on what to do.) well the kids were there and they made them watch them have sex and... back to jail for them. Those kids were so pitiful, not only from being exposed and used and having their innocence stolen, but in general. I just think it's very risky and damaging. Plus I could not actually enjoy sex while my kid watched. Now I've had them walk in on me using the restroom and changing clothes, that one happens quite frequently, but I would never let them watch me have sex. I don't think that's very ethical or moral or any other word. Lol. I'm all for sex ed and talking to your kids and answering (honestly) any question they may have and the whole 9 yards, but I do not think kids should watch their parents have sex. I don't even think kids should watch porn and I hate the idea of porn being educational. IT ISN'T. It's not the way real sex and real intimacy is. Porn is extremely damaging to people, especially kids. Porn doesn't teach them how to deal with intimacy, the consequences and how to treat their partner. It damages their minds and watching parents have sex is not much healthier.

I asked a CPS officer about this and it is a form of child abuse for children to see (or hear) their parents have sex.
